Hey all,
I'm wondering what types of software y'all use. I've read on some other blogs/forums and they were indicating some publishers would not accept submissions in Word. It left me wondering if I dshould go with something from adobe or other software. I need to purchase something and wouldlike some published writers here to make some reccomendations. !thumbsup!

Word isn't a format, it's a word processing app.

Speaking for myself, our mechanism doesn't like the .doc format but will accept .rtf just fine. You can produce docs in .rtf format from many different packages.

When I wrote my book for last year's NaNo competition, I wrote it in FrameMaker because Frame is a legitimate desktop publishing app, and is designed for long, text-based documents (such as the novel I was working on). In addition, I also produced my book .pdf, .doc, and .lit formats.

I've also written in Texturizer (think Notepad on steroids), Word, and Open Office Writer.

Bottom line, the application you use isn't as important as the format you use, and there are many options avialable to you along the way.

I use Word, and at the Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference, several editors and agents said that Word is their preferred word processing software.
