I am very pleased to announce that my short fiction work, "Against the Shaman," is now available in Better Fiction: 2005 Year in Review ( Wade Ogletree, Ed.). One special feature of this anthology is comments and remarks about each short story. It is my further pleasure to say that remarks about "Against the Shaman" were provided by Piers Anthony. (Yes, that Piers Anthony – author of the Xanth series.)
The download is FREE and the print version is only $6.27. Mr. Ogletree is distributing this anthology through Lulu:

Along with my fiction story, I was also asked to comment on one of the other stories included. That story is "Apple's Pale" by Frank Ray Ard.
Fans of Melinda S. Reynolds, a frequent illustration contributor to The Sword Review will find several of her art works throughout BF:2005 YIR, as well as some of her written works.
A note about "Against the Shaman": This publication was a LONG time coming. It is far different from the first version Steve Stanton, editor of Dreams & Visions, remarked on around February 2004. His comments along with several rounds of revision with the good editors at Deep Magic matured this story to the point that the theme was strong and the plot moved nicely. A few more rejections and a few more revisions later, it came to be in the form that Wade Ogletree judged worthy to be included in his anthology.
My point? Stick to it! Keep working with your words and listening to critiques. Keep making changes and keep submitting. Foremost, don't get discouraged by the rejections.
