Our son was diagnosed with Autism in 2004. I began to write trying to see things as he does.
Well, a year later....BOOK PUBLISHED! Have sold over 50 copies so far of TRUE INTIMACY.

The sister to this book will be finished by next Christmas! I told my husband that we will not get rich, but I am excited as I sit back and hear how God is using the words He gave me to challenge others!

Have a great week all.

Hi I am a new first time author (still working on the book actually). Writing the book seems to be the easiest part . Trying to decide which publishers to pursue is tha hard part. If I do an internet search there are hundreds if not thousands of book publishers now. So I am always curious how published authors decided who to publish with. Especially how they decided who was trustworthy and how they found one they could afford. Some seem to want major money up fron that I just dont have.

Who did you choose and how? Did they do a good job for you at a reasonable cost?

Thanks. Any insight you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

_____That's some good news, and you went through lulu no less. I was wondering what your book was about after checking out the site. Why the romantic title for the book? I'm just wondering. Anyhoot, great to hear good news. :D

I used Intimacy because God made us to be intimate! He made us relational...Relational with Him and with others. Over generations of time we have forgotten (we believers) who we are in Christ and what it means to have a true intimate relationship with HIM.

The Song of Songs shows how romantic God is to us. Very intimate.

My book focuses on the small details of life that at times we over look...and with those details draws us into a deeper more intmate relationship with Him...
Have no idea if that answers your question. :D

I got published back in March. I self published but it is on Amazon, and many on line books stores. Some stores have put them on their shelves. I have sold over a 100 or so. It is fun. I want to get picked up by a major publisher. I used Xulon Press. They are good but it is self publishing. My book is called The Sinful Woman. It is based out of Luke 7 in the Scriptures. But if anyone is interested in self publishing, you could try Xulon. They are Christian.

Congratulations on having your book published. A close friend of mine has a son and several grandchildren with autism. He often speaks of the difficulties and the sadness of being a caretaker for children with the disease. What you are doing is important. Keep it up.

Thanks Paul.
it is true, there are some hard times...but my husband and I began saying that we have good days and better days. Our desire is to help others look at the positives and to see the potential each child has individually.
We have been praying that our son would come to understand who Jesus is. The Lord never ceases to amaze me how He can reach the soul of a person. My son wanted snow. I told him he would have to ask God. I did not think he really understood, because I used "too many words." he stopped and said, "Let's pray" and he proceded to ask Jesus for snow. When it snowed I showed him and he said, "Thanks, Jesus." He then prayed the other day that someone in the church who has been really sick, that God would take the "bad away."
A friend once told me she could not imagine the life sentence we had been dealt. Honestly, I can think of no greater life sentence than being Joshua's mommy. It was that statement that God used to change our whole outlook about autism. Okay, I am writing to much. A lot of this is in the preface of my book of devo's. Which, we give 10% of all royalites earned back to OASIS, which is the group we began here.
Thanks again, Paul. I will be thinking of your friend. I don't know where they live, but they can email me anytime they need to talk @ OASIS_WC@yahoo.com

Congrats and may God bring great success with it. Have you thought about contacting some of the nonprofit organizations regarding your book they are normally very supportive of works that will bring positive attention and support to the cause!!!

Congratulaions on getting published. I like the title of your book. Every child does have potential for an intimate relaionship with Jesus. And it sounds like you are learning how to show that intimacy to Joshua. rmacek
