Lately I don't write much unless it's for class and required. I feel like I just can't write. I need some encouragement.

What you need is to put your fingers on your keyboard and just type.
It will come. Its just a block, jump over it!
Share whatever you writer with us here, please?

Also you might start again by answering some of the posts on this site. That's what I do! Somebody may write a poem, and I answer back with a poem. Or they might write an interesting paragraph and I use it (use not steal) to jumpstart my creative juices.

Kaylee,
We all have slumps from time to time. I find if I read something inspiring about writing, it makes me want to write. Another thing that works sometime is setting down with pen and paper and setting a timer for say, 15 minutes and write whatever comes to you. It doesn't have to be anything but babble, just let it flow. I like challenges which can spark my creativity. Things like picking three diverse things such a baseball card, an elderly man in a nursing home and rollerskating, then writing a short story which contains these three elements.

But the most important thing is asking your heavenly father to help spark your desire to write again. He is the most reliable source for all creativity and spending time praying about writing will certainly be the best solution.

Kaylee,

I know exactly how you feel. Sometimes life gets in the way, and writing seems to lose its sparkle -- especially when you've been away from it for a while. It's something not all of us like to admit, but it's the brutal truth.

Do you know what I've found helps? First, pray about it. Tell your Father exactly how you feel, and ask for His help and guidance. So many times Satan likes to tear us down or discourage us right before we do something great -- so ask your heavenly Father to intercede and protect you! Then, clear some time and FORCE yourself to sit down and write, for a few hours minimum. Don't let yourself get out of the chair until that time is up!

I know it may sound a bit odd, but that's always worked for me in the past. The first part of those few hours is agony, and you groan and complain. Then, you begin to write out of sheer bordom, or because you just want to get it over with. Then -- something magical happens! Despite your groanings, the excitement of creating starts to seep back in. It begins as a small tingle, then intensifies as the story takes form. Soon, you're writing again, and the hours zip by. You'll leave the chair with that "writer's high," praising God, and asking yourself why you ever gave it up!

Seriously, Kaylee... don't allow yourself to worry. Every successful writer I've ever read about or asked has said something along these lines, so you're in good company. When it gets tough, force yourself. We all lose that passion for the craft at times -- you're not alone in that! You just have to keep moving. It'll come back. In other words, get to work! We want to hear how you've turned this into a success! !thumbsup!
