Chocolate covered caramels.....or chocolate covered cherries....fudge...or brownies the way my aunt makes them....one layer of bronwie, chocolate frosting, another layer of brownie, chocolate frosting again and sprinkles. It's good but very rich.

I made a brownie mix once where they had me put in a chocolate sauce. My sister makes chocolate cream pie. I don't like it. *wrinkles nose* it's basically pudding in a pie.

MysticFire

Exactly. Put a man in the kitchen and have him make bronwies. 8 times out of 10 he won't know. No offense, men. :P but very few ever get the urge to cook.

Hi Culinary Friends!

I've had a request for Apple Caramel Cake (ala caramel apples!)

1 Yellow Cake Mix
4 eggs
1 pkg. instant Vanilla Pudding
1/3 c. cooking oil
1 c. water
2 apples, peeled and diced
20 caramels wrapped
1/4 c. milk

Thoroughly mix the cake mix, eggs, instant pudding, cooking oil, and water at low speed for 1 minute. Then beat at high speed for 2 minutes. Gradually fold in the
apples. Grease and flour a bundt cake pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes to 1 hour. Cool 20 minutes in cake pan. Turn onto wire rack and completely cool.
Mix caramel with milk and stir till caramels are dissolved. Cool caramel sauce and drizzle on cooled cake. Delicious!

I'm in New Zealand. What do you mean by, 20 caramels wrapped?

ellenjames
09-23-2005, 10:21 PM
Whitehawke

Caramels in the USA come in little cellophane-wrapped squares. In the recipe one uses 20 of these little squares.

now Bar-B-Q's are fun. This is when men come into their own and women can relax.
Hey, anyone want to cook me a few sausages and onions on the grill? :D

MysticFire

Bwehehehe, Hawke, wrapped caramels are little squares of caramel protected by this clear piece of....saran wrap, in a way. Don't you have a candy section in your store?

ellenjames
09-24-2005, 11:07 AM
Whitehawke!

Look in your candy store or super market for candy. Caramels are 1/2 inch tan-colored cubes wrapped individually in cellophane. It will read "CARAMEL" on the packaging.

Now, several of us have described it for you, so go out, buy caramels, and bake a Caramel Apple Cake. LOL :D

Ellenjames

Whoa,
browbeaten Hawke. :p There are so many caramels etc to chose from, I was just wanting to make sure I got the right one. It's just that all other recipes that I know of, have called for a caramel sauce to be made from scratch as per instructions in the recipe. lol
Help, Hawke flees to crow's nest to escape the stewing pot. :D

ellenjames
09-24-2005, 07:00 PM
Well, Whitehawke,

You have escaped the stewing pot! We are merciful.
Now it's your turn to tell us about caramels in Australia! :D

Arrr, you be so kind. Truth is though, I know nothing of caramels in Australia cause I am a New Zealand Hawke. lol
I eat more chocolate than caramels though so I can't be much help. But I do know that some of them have a thin filling of chocolate. :Dmmm Yum yum Chocolate.

Please forgive me New Zealand Hawke!

You may not know about USA caramels, but I don't know the difference between New Zealand and Australia! My bad! :o

You go ahead and enjoy your chocolate and the caramel inside it! !thumbsup!

ellenjames,
There is nothing to forgive. :D Australia is only two hours flight time from NZ and when I think of the size of America it amazes me. wow. I know someone who can get jetlag just by hopping over to visit relatives for dinner. :eek:America is far too big for me to comprehend.

Dr. Rita ,

Wow on the chocolate eating smiley was stearing and smiling for a good 5 mins.lol

Sorry ladies i'll have to agree with Azariah men are better cooks its cause of the passion concept .Women cook cause they are expected to though they may enjoy it to the max its "norm" for a woman to have to /like to cook , but when men cook they put an extra somthing in it maybe to impress or its just their flair but they actually are the better cooks.{Props for my Hubby chubby he's a boss when it comes to cooking } ...Just like cutting hair men just do womens hair better .... ;)

Disclamer:
The views expressed here are of a select few and by no means the view of every women everywhere. :p
