Hi All,

This is my first day here so i'm diving right in .I started writing a story a children's story and i got stuck so i put it down and am scared to even look at it again that was about 2 months ago ....yes i know it sounds silly .

I know this is where my talent lies but i'm doubting if this is what God wants me to do i believe that he gives us talents to help others and also to make a living but i am lost as to the direction i have all these ideas but when its time to put them on paper i find i'm terrified of it not comming out right or that i'm the only one that "gets it"

Am i alone here?

...sigh i don't want to stay here. In school i used to write short stories and poetry and it would just flow now i stick all the time , i have not written a line of poetry in years.

Can someone help. Thanx

Tash

Tasha, I transgressed the rules, though not by intent, when I answered your post with a poem. So I'll send you to my website, below, to read it: Purging.

It was a response to your cry of struggle with your story.

My apologies to the moderators.

I would suggest you just write what you feel. DOn't worry about if anyone will get it. Just get your thoughts on paper. If your poem is meant to be used it will. I suggest you just write. Use a journal and just write.

Just my thoughts

E.S. Working. Sounds so distinguished. Loved your poem short and sweet. Less is definitely more.

Thanx also to Kiren I do write my feelings I think better that way but you know all of us writers our mechanism works differently so there are two things that I can do either wait it out or dive back into it. Courage .In the interim pray for courage.

Thanx all

Much Luv
Tash!

Just write!
When you get it down, then set it aside for a couple of weeks and do something else. Go back later and correct it.
Post 2k here (in the appropriate section) and we'll politely critique you and let you know if we get it or not. We don't bite (much) and we'll definitely be truthful. Sometimes you'll see it's unfounded fear engineered to hold you back. Other times it could be grammer.
Point is, just write. Get it out into the light. Sometimes that's all it takes to see the problem. !thumbsup!
God Bless!

Sometimes I have things on my heart I want to write about but when I put the ideas on paper, sometimes it just seems like I can't put it on paper what I am thinking about. There are times inspiration comes and I may not be at a point where I can stop doing what I am doing and make little notes. I have now started keeping a pad and pen by my bed, the computer at home and at work.

I don't know it seems like I see something I want to write in my mind so clearly but when it time to put it on paper, it is not the same.

I have started writing and then I will get frustrated and stop. Hopefully here I can build up more confidence and not be afraid to share what I write.

http://bestsmileys.com/welcome/18.gif Tash,

There is no magical mystery about writing, some muse that comes when you pick up a pen or sit down at the keyboard and gives you the words while your fingers fly to write them down. Now don't get me wrong, we all know the Holy Spirit gives us inspiration and does, on occasion, give us that poem or song or story that seems to come from outside of our ourselves. I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the sit-down-try-to-get-it-out type of writing. Just like anything else, it takes practice and it takes working at the craft of writing. Anyone who does anything well must work at it. Talent is just a small part of the equation. The only way you will ever write well it hone your skills and write all the time. Roll up your sleeves, sharpen your pencils, sit in the chair and write.

Looking forward to hearing more from you. God Bless.

Rita is so right. It goes beyond talent and inspiration to just plain hard work. The more you write, the easier it becomes. Just write . . . let the words spill out from the keyboard. Don't stop - don't edit - don't keep going over it. Just write. Then put it away and get it out later. Then it's time to face what you write with a critical eye. Don't ever trash anything. I am just now working on ideas that I started developing over 4 years ago. It will come.
