Spring is in the air.
Life is grand. You know the kind of whether when you dress up warm then get too hot. Or you dress for the warmth and nearly freeze. One minute the sun is streaming down and then it's raining cats and dogs. Thunderstorm weather. Yee ha!! !thumbsup! I love it.
Cheers to you all this day my friends. God bless. !thumbsup! :D
Whoopy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, Fall is in the air. Cool breezes and walks thru brilliantly colored leaves that crunch underfoot! Pumkin pie and hot apple cider! But that's next month. !thumbsup!
From this side of the Big Blue Marble,
God Bless!

DrRita,
the smilie was spot on. !thumbsup!

Hisart,
autumn is so beautiful to. Spring and autumn are my favorite times of the year (whether wise) mmmm Pumpkin pie, haven't had that in a long time. Hot apple cider? What is that over there? Here I use apple cider vinegar in cooking etc, but surely that must be different to what you mean.

Hot apple cider is like apple juice. Not vinegar, I've seen both. It's quite good. :D

Yummy, that does sound nice.
Could one of you good people be so kind as to pour me a glass or two?
Tell you what I love. It's hot apple pie and ice cream. mmmmm yum yum
Oh, and also self-saucing chocolate pudding. :D
Oops, now I'm feeling hungry.
I think I better go and get my early morning cup of tea and a slice of bread. It's 4:27 am and I've been up since just after three without my usual sustanance.

My grandma makes a fabulous apple pie. I got the recipe (also peach pie, rhubarb pie, and pumpkin is so easy to make...plus the pie dough recipe :D) and you should be able to find apple cider at a grocery store....

"The difference between apple juice and apple cider is that apple juice has undergone a filtration process to remove all the particles and sediment that give cider its cloudy appearance. In America we understand that requesting a glass of apple cider means we’re asking for raw apple juice. Ask for apple cider anywhere outside the U.S. though, and you’ll be served a fermented drink with a varying alcohol content. To distinguish between the two, Americans call unfermented cider “sweet cider” and fermented alcoholic cider “hard cider.”

Elsewhere, though, cider is cider, and it’s the hard stuff. France, which produces the most cider, calls it “cidre.” You’d ask for “sidra” in Spain and “apfelwein (apple wine)” in Germany."

o.O I've heard of alcohol in cider but I never drink it that way. There's an apple cider recipe in one of my books...I think I remember which one too. I can't remember if it said anything bout alcohol, but if it did, and I ever make it..I wouldn't put it in there. It did have cinnamon though. O.o
I had power cider from a packet once. you get a hot cup of water and stir it....it was pretty good. I luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuve coffee though. *drool* Especially with different coffee creams...amaretto, Irish creme, vanilla caramel. :D :D :D :D :D

Actually, now that you mention it, all of these would be cool. But, if that is too much, then how about the apple, the peach and the pie dough?
yum
Thanks :D

Pie dough-Makes 4 crusts

3 c. of sifted flour
1 teaspoon of salt
1 1/2 c. shortening (or butter)
1/2 c. cold water (absolutely has to be cold....put it in the freezer for a couple minutes, whatever you want to do)

Mix well with fork then knead with your hands...I'm guessing you know how to make pies, hmm? :P the wax paper, the rolling pin, the whole shebang.

Apple pie-5-7 Macingtosh apples (has to be Macingtosh, they're sweeter)

3/4 c. sugar
3 tablesoons of flour
1/8 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
2 tablespoon of butter

Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes, then turn back to 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

Peach pie is same as apple but NO CINNAMON. Even the baking degrees are the same.

Rhubarb pie

1 1/2 cup sugar 3 tablespoon of flour
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon of butter
2 well beaten eggs
3 cups of rhubarb (I don't know what you got in NZ, but I use frozen rhubarb...but whatever you got is good, I think)

Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes, then turn back to 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown crust (that goes for all of those pies).

I think typing all those recipes made me smell lemon meragne (sp?) but I don't like the mernage...but the lemon's good, in the pie. Hm...should try that, lemon pie... :D

Oh, Hawke, i just made two apple pies and an apple pie pocket. How I do that is, instead of 4 pie crust, I make 6 and use the extra apple filling in it and fold it over...it's a dessert pocket, man. !thumbsup! But, Lord, does it take forever to make....

Run run, flap flap.... two feet off the ground... gasp, puff.... this is hard work... eek Who put that great big ocean in the way?! sqwark.

...*lips twitch* Are you sure you're not a penguin? :P I've never flown at all, but I'd like to..maybe even learn how to fly. :D That'd be sweet....If you really want to be a Hawke, you should sell enough books to buy your own plane with a hawke on the side, so you can go anywhere and your wings will never get tired. :P

MysticFire,
A penguin? gasp, splutter. chuckle Think I'll have ta keep me hawke eyes on you. tisk tisk. :p If ya want to learn to fly, you will need to grow some more feathers and flap your wings harder. And don't be trying ta fly like a penguin unless ya can swim like a duck. :D
Me sell lots of books, eh? Ah, what a good idea. :D
Merry,
I hope you've had a nice quite day and that you feel better soon.
