Good Cheap DVD Player Recommendations?

I'm looking to replace an Aspire AD-1000 that lasted only 18 months. I don't want any more Apex clones.

I think Wal Mart has a Magnavox on sale, as well as a Sanyo. Anybody have these? Are they worth nearly $50 or should I go ahead and spend the extra to get a Sony or Toshiba?

I have a samsung that I bought probably seven years ago. Still works great.. I also bought a sylvania combo dvd &vcr player about about 2 years ago that works good, I just hate the remote. I' m not much up on electronics so I don't know if these are good or not. But both of mine have lasted more than 18 months.
