Hi all- I just wondered how other people around the country were reacting. (Yes, I know this is old news, but it's still being discussed at my house.) What is your reaction as a Christian? Do you think the man should retire? Should parades be thrown in his honor?

Just wondered,

Pat is just a man with his own opinion, and he's entitled to say what other people probably want to say, but are afraid to.

Dont get caught up on the politics of "Oh my God! Did he just say that?"
Let it go.

I long moved away from the idea that just because {fill-in-the-blank} is a Christian, I have to defend whatever {fill-in-the-blank} says or does or practices or believes. One of the defining characteristics about Protestant Christianity, especially in the US, is that their is no de facto "leader" or group of representative "leaders." Maybe that's good, maybe that's bad, but that's the way it is, so I can feel free to ignore the oddball utterings of some of my brothers and sisters.

And I am sure they (and you, too) would say the same things about me if I ever got a national platform to speak all my views . . .

Pat is simply a Christian man who has the same thoughts, feelings as the rest of us, and he has his opinions(personal) just like the rest of us, which he forgot to keep personal, like the rest of us. Amazing how many mistakes we humans make, isn't it?

My husband is a Buddhist and thinks Christianity is for the most part, more of a purveyor of violence than peace. When evangelical Christians basically have about five major faces, and one of them is calling for the murder of anyone, international leader or not, it's really hard to argue with him.

I guess I think that people in public positions, especially when they have such a major responsibility to people all over the country, should be very very careful what they say. They have a much more visible way to show Christ to this world.

Whether I agree with him or not, non-Christians are defining me by his opinions.

Not me, at least not on this one!
