My weekend starts tomorrow because of hurricane Katrina. Schools and just about everything else is closed. The wind is just starting to blow here, but it sounds as if that won't do much damage, however, Matt may be able to fish in the front yard by the time it's over since 10 inches of rain is predicted and well...this is a swamp and all....(I half expect Shrek to show up and boot all the fairy tale creatures....of course that would mean we'd lose all the evolutionists in town, but I'll take that risk.) All in all should be a cozy, rainy weekend. :D

Thanks for the prayers all! We are really safe! The silly whipped below us. Even the huge rain we were expecting isn't going to happen. I told Matt God must really want him to fish because Saturday he was going to be in his first fishing tournament and that was not going to materialize because of the weather. Now it's back on. There was jsut one good gust that hit the house and that was it. So the storm is in the GUlf of Mexico and given that the gulf is roughly the temperature of bath water it could become HUGE. And sadly it looks like it's heading to Pensacola again. The only good that could come of it would be that the authorites get so whipped into a frenzy keeping things together that they forget to hassle Dr. Dino.

There was a hurricane??? Man, I need to watch the weather channel more often. It appears to have missed central FL though I did notice it was a bit windy yesterday.

Merry,
glad to hear it missed you guys. God is good. May Matt enjoy his fishing and bring home some lovely dinner. Yummy. I love fish. Can I have some please? :D
We'll all have to pray that storm melts away.

Just one more reason to go to New Zealand!

I guess one persons hurricane weekend is another persons run for your life time. Yikes! An F5 storm? The buoys out in the Gulf of Mexico measured some wave heights at 31 feet...that's 3-1! Really high for the gulf! They compared storm size between Charlie, which hit near me last year, and Katrina and it was like holding up a ping-pong ball to a grapefruit. Charlie was just as strong, but way more compact, this thing is so big it doesn't look real. Fortunatley God is bigger.

There is a good chance tomorrow morning New Orleans could be gone or under water. I've stood in the french quater and watched boats sail by ABOVE me...the city is built that low! Not a smart way to build, but ...definitely keep them in your prayers. Katrina will be paying a visit to folks as far north as Kentucky, later this week.

Eek. Doesn't sound too good.
I pray that only the Lords will be done and NOT the enemies.
Also, may all my friends over there and all the people they know be kept safe in the hands of the Lord.
I wanted a bit of rain for Angel, but I wouldn't wish a hurrican on anyone.:D
Peace be still.

This hurricane weekend is going on a bit much. We have two teachers at our school from New Orleans. One has not heard from her family since Saturday, the other heard from her family and they said their home is under water. And I'm sure you know by now that the place is a mess.

If I had to weather a disaster some place I would never pick New Orleans. The aftermath of New York 9-11 would be easier to take and it's hard to completely understand what I'm saying unless you've been there. There's a dark under current in that city you could cut with a knife. Pray for the survivors, they're going to need all the help they can get.

Katrina certainly upset many lives!

One cousin and family had to race out of New Orleans, but made it safely to Houston, TX. Another cousin raced ahead of the storm and made it safely to Louisville, KY. He beat the storm. The first cousin doesn't know what the future will hold; did his house survive? Will it be weeks or months before they can go 'home'?

A cousin from another family lives in Baton Rouge, LA. They saw lots of destruction, but they are safe as well as their house.

It seems that whenever storms enter the gulf, at some point they turn and go Northeast. We here in Oklahoma got wind from the storm and it broke our humidity.
It so hot and humid last week!

We pray for the victims of the hurricane. I can't imagine what it is like!
