An update.
The Doctors decided not to opporate on Aunty today. Sounds like they will need to do more invasive surgery next Friday, which with be Thursday by American time.
They need to check her nymph glands in her neck and they say that on a scale of 1 to 5, aunty is at 3. She has a 75% chance of coming out ok.
Thank you all for your prayers and please keep praying as the Lord leads.

Today I found out that the cancer in Aunties neck has spread to about halfway to her nymph glands. They are talking about having to cut out a strip of about one inch wide. I don't know how far that strip will go. I would love to see a mirical.

Rulan,

Your aunt is in my prayers. I just finished posting in Angel's thread about the fire and how we all face things that are unknown. The truth is, most of our lives are unknown and all subject to change. I've learned that lesson the hard way ... but I'm so thankful God graced me with the patience to actually learn it. My sister had some extensive tests including a bone scan ... and she received the results yesterday, promised to email me with the results. I haven't heard from her and of course I'm concerned that the news isn't good (she's been in extreme pain for about 2 months). I tried calling but my overseas call can't get thru the block they have on their phone. And you know what ... I just pray even more and that can only help. Bottom line, I can rest in God's promise that He's in control. Regardless of the outcome, He's with me and with my sister, as He is with you, your aunt and the family.

I do know the specter of a loved ones surgery to remove cancer. It can seem overwhelming but our medical technology continues to get better and better. Please know that you, your aunt and the family are in my prayers.

Blessings, Francine

Edmom and Rulan:

Thank you for your prayers. I did "talk" with my sister via IM last night. The news was good and not so good. Good news is that it isn't cancer (that's an answer to prayer) and I guess we were all holding our breath simply because cancer so recently took my mom and stepdad. The not so good news is that not only are they unsure of what's causing her pain but now they aren't going to prescribe any more pain medication for her. My sister is not one to seek relief -- and only has done so when the pain has become unbearable.

If you could just pray that the pain would subside so she could at least function. She and her husband are raising their granddaughter who has significant emotional problems as a result of horrible abuse before the age of one year old. My sister's most important goal is to raise that little girl.

Thank you so very much. My sister has just recently come close to and is totally depending on God's will for her life. I know this is a spiritual battle for her as well.

Rulan ... hope to hear an update soon on your aunt.

Blessings, Francine

Francine,
First off, I won't know anything on my aunty until the weekend, but it would be great if the cancer disappeared.
Glad to hear it's not cancer with your sister. What a wonderful answer to prayer. Sorry to hear that she's in such pain. May I ask where her pain is? Did I understand you correctly that she is close to coming to the Lord? I will be praying for her.

Rulan:

Her pain is in her shoulders, neck, back, arms and her ribs. Here's the strange thing -- my husband is suffering in the same way ... in just about the same degree of pain. Along with him, I know of 3 other people living or having lived in the past in Sierra Vista ... my home town. Fort Huachuca, an Army base is colocated there as well. For the past few years the Center for Disease Control has been doing research because there is a higher than normal number of childhood leukemia cases there ... all in children born or living there. The research continues but Fort Huachuca seems to have garnered their interest although I'm making no accusations. The other thing is that there seem to be an unusual number of folks diagnosed and dieing with stomach cancer. I'm not being an alarmist ... it may just be a growing trend everywhere.

Anyway, my sister accepted the Lord about 15 years ago but had a very bad experience with our church (we were not raised in church and in fact we didn't even have a Bible in our house). Anyway, she recently began searching for answers -- her life was empty and she knew she needed something. At that point, I ordered a Bible for her (she has one I gave her when she was baptized but I felt she needed something a little easier to understand so I ordered The Message) and a copy of Rick Warren's Purpose Driven Life book. It arrived in about 2 days (I felt burdened that she needed answers quickly as she was extremely depressed and said she'd be happy if she could just die). Anyway, the response I got when she received the package was something I will always cherish. Since then, she's been reading the Bible and the book but I fear her suffering may divert her attention (as it so easily can in all of us).

So (long answer, I know -- but you know me, I'm NOT a woman of few words, lol), I would covet your prayers for her. And for my husband. It is so difficult to see someone you love in so much pain.

Thank's for asking.

Blessings, Francine

I just wanted to thank all of you who prayed for my sister. Her trip to the neurologist is bringing her so much relief. He presecribed a lydocaine (unsure of spelling) patch for pain and for the first time in several months, she's out of pain. She's having a more in depth MRI today but the first one basically showed nothing much. Looks like a pinch nerve may be the culprit -- going for a long time undiagnosed or untreated.

The important thing is that I let her know there were folks praying for her so that she can see just how God can answer prayers.

Thank you so much.

Blessings, Francine

Well,
aunty is home. She has stitches in her neck and has to turn her whole body if she wants to look around. They hope to take the stitches out in a few days.
I don't know what they found, or how much they had to cut out.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and I will keep you posted as I get more news.

Francine,
how is your sister?
