1. "A Thief In the Night"
The Christian movie that scared to me salvation.
2. "The Passion of the Christ"
The movie that shook me back to His heart.
3. "Dennis The Menace"
When I saw it the second time, it was not that funny.
But the first time I saw it it fed my need to laugh so bad, I made a laughing specticle of myself in the theater.
4. "Jurassic Park I"
The movie's intensity kept me transported away to where I'd never been before, until Ihad to go home and tell my wife I'd just been fired.
5. "JC Superstar"
Now I see the movie as near blasphemy, but this unsaved 16 year old boy was spiritually shaken by the first image of Christ he'd have seen.

Nifty lists! !thumbsup!
Golly Angel...do you like movies? :)
BroDave...I enjoyed reading your comments. Amazing the impacts movies can have on us, eh?
Dr Rita...you mentioned that you like animated films. Ever see "The Iron Giant"? Wow...that was good! And what about "Ice Age"...that was FUNNY!
Although I wouldn't include most of them in my all-time favorite lists...I love historical dramas.."Elizabeth," "Cleopatra," "Kingdom of Heaven," "The Patriot," "Troy," "Luther."
I also really like all the recent movies based on Classic Literature. And I very much enjoy Kenneth Branagh's Shakespeare films!
This is fun!

Firefeet,
I haven't seen Iron Giant . . . why, I don't know. But I loved Ice Age and Antz and A Bug's Life and Aladdin and . . . the list goes on. I loved Finding Nemo !thumbsup! I got hooked on them when my boys were small. You mentioned Elizabeth and The Kingdom of Heaven. I enjoyed those also. I love the Shakespeare productions. I think they're great. He was certainly a master, especially of comedy.

Hmm...interesting question. I'm more a TV series person than a movie person because I don't like one shot wonder characters plus movie theater movies rarely come out that meet my criteria in terms of acceptable content.
That said, my all time favorite movie theater movie is Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan. Outstanding script (with the bonus of having some of my favorite characters!).
Others (either film or tv movies) are:
Ride Lonesome (don't know why Randoph Scott was so popular but Pernell Roberts is to die for!)
All Roy Rogers movies
All Lassie movies
Wizard of Oz
City Slickers (the first one)
Star Trek IV

What's sad....I've either seen or heard most all the movies on there. Especially Angel's list. Some up there I don't think were mentioned....
Dune
Children of Dune

Long Kiss Goodnight
Gone in 60 seconds
Liar Liar
Dragonheart
Dragonheart-A New Beginning
Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood
The Mummy
The Mummy Returns
Pitch Black
Chronicles of Riddick
Hitch
Hide and Seek
Taken (Mini series ^_^)
Alias (It's a series....but I've seen 1-3 seasons...it's an addiction)
The Musketeer
Spanglish
Terminator 1,2,3
Left Behind (First one was horrible, second one was a little better)
(I've seen movies based on Mary Higgins Clark books....I suggest you don't see them)
Trust me, if I was in a movie store, I could take you what I've seen and liked, what I want to see, and what I suggest you don't see. I love action, sci-fic, and some history movies. ^_^

I'm watching "Situation Comedy" on Bravo right now.
Avery insightful look in to how a situation comedy comes together.
As a writer who dreams of creating a sitcom (Mine was one of 10,000 scripts in the pile) it really brings the challenge to life.

4400! How could I forget that, I love that series! And Everwood, is pretty good. First season was funny. Sarcastic doctor, another purposely trying to get on his nerves, cynical teenager....Kind of makes you take a funny look on reality. ^_^ Ain't seen all of it though...>.> And I've seen only the end of one episode of Lost....

Honorable Mention: The Passion of the Christ. Such a powerful experience, I find it hard to trivialize it by adding it to my favorites. It isn't a movie I'll put in when I'm bored. I watch it whenever I feel led, whenever I feel the need to. Cinimatically, though, I think this is the best film I've ever seen. I remember watching it for the first time and thinking, "This is what I need to be doing with my writing".

I agree totally. It's in a class of its own. I have tried to watch it several times but it's not a casual movie. Like you said, WG, you have to be LED to watch it. !thumbsup!

REALLY interesting look at the role of writers in the process, and how the whole creative process that is TV works.

Gotta put in a vote for The Kid Brother (silent, 1927) with Harold Lloyd. I think Lloyd's the most amazing actor ever and this is his very best.
Also on my list:
The Muppets Treasure Island and Christmas Carol
Harvey with Jimmy Stewart
Arsenic and Old Lace
Miracle on 34th Street (original version)
as for modern films,
The Lord of the Rings was great as far as film-making was concerned, the story in the books is much, much better. I don't really watch many modern movies, though.

I like movies too much
I can't vouch for the content of all of these movies, my husband and I enjoyed CleanFilms.com an online dvd rental (slower than Netflix tho) that edited films, so we got to enjoy a lot of funny movies we wouldn't have watched otherwise. That said...
I'm a suck for superhero filsm. My favorites are:
Batman Begins (I got to see it in the drive-in twice, so fun!)
Xmen (both movies)
Bourne Identity and Supremecy
I like Ocean's 11 a lot, though maybe I shouldn't like a movie about theives...
Pirates of the Carribbean
Lord of the Rings
Harry Potter (I admit it!)
Mulan
Funny movies:
Hitch
Mean Girls (both of these we watched from CleanFilms)
Sister Act ( I love it! Made my husband watch it the other day bc he'd never seen it...
he didn't want to, but he really liked it too!)
Importance of Being Earnest
Much Ado About Nothing
Nero Wolfe (TV show used to be on AE adapted from Rex Stouts' books)
More, I'm sure
ok... *sigh*... back to Nano...

Some of my favourites are: the original Star Wars trilogy, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, Luther, Spirited Away (anime), Nausicaa (anime) Laputa: Castle in the Sky (anime), Jumanji, Batman Begins (so good!), The Lion King, Mulan, Shrek 1 and 2, Pirates of the Carribean, The Incredibles, Napoleon Dynamite and The Rocketeer. But I have many others also (including various Jackie Chan's: Who Am I? is my favourite of those I've seen) and The Indiana Jones movies (minus the cult scene in The Temple of Doom).
I can't say I enjoyed Passion of the Christ but it was a very powerful and moving experience.
Shaun of the Dead was very very funny but there was too much language for me to add it to my (recommended) favourites. It is a classic though and very British!
