writers digest (http://www.writersdigest.com)

I get writing prompts from them delivered to my email. I think it comes out once a month. Or you can just click on the link on the site.

Getting prompted.

Reminds me of a movie I saw on TV many, many years ago called "The Ballad of Evil Roy Slade." This was about a hardened gunman of the Old West (played by John Astin) who was trying to change his stripes (for the love of a good woman).

In one scene, he tries his hand shoe clerking. A customer comes in and wants to try on a pair of shoes, but Roy has difficulty getting them on the customer's feet.

Well, the shoe store manager comes by and hands Roy a shoe horn, telling him that it will help get the shoe on.

Roy says, "Well, thank you," takes the shoe horn, and turns around to the customer. He puts the shoe horn to the customer's throat, and growls, "Now, git that shoe on!"

The shoe was on in half a second. :)

Roy turns to the manager and says, "Thanks, you shore wuz right."

How about a personal service for writers, where somebody comes by your house, pokes a knitting needle in your side and says, "Now, git to writin'."

That's a prompt. :D
