Hello, nice to meet you.
If you start a new thread by going to the New Members - Meets & Greets Forum and clicking on "New Thread" then you can introduce yourself. You'll get a lot more greetings that way.

Hi everyone :) Thanks for your welcomes! A bit about me hey..I used to write much more than I do now. A lot has changed since I became a Christian about four years ago. I feel like I'm waiting for God to show me what to write. I have this sense that I want to write something and, according the the author of a book about writing, such a desire is enough. But I disagree; I need to know I'm not doing it just for me, or for nothing. So..lately I've begun keeping a journal again (to answer your question Rulan about what I write) but anything else will take some time - time I have to be sure is worthwhile! I'm dependent on God's word and am committed to a Social Work course, so these have to take priority over writing. I want to make sure that my writing isn't an 'escape'; not something I feel I need to do in order to be whole or to be seen or anything like that. It's not allowed to come before God in my heart. There's a passage about not leaning on my own understanding and I think this applies here. So I may be a fairly 'scarce' presence on this site but maybe God will give me the okay on it (writing !thumbsup! ) sometime and show me how I can use this tool. I'd really like to do something that gives people (even myself) insight into things. I think that writing/reading - leading to THINKING or reflection - can provide a space where we are able to challenge our attitudes and our ways of thinking about stuff (stuff? Anything really). 'Safely' placing people in situations that challenge them and that break down barriers is something I want to be a part of.
...I've just thought of the scripture about tearing down strongholds. I think this is it! What Paul says is what I want to do, though not just (if at all) through writing. I've 'boldened' a bit of it:
In 2 Corinthians 10 -
3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Just sitting here and typing these thoughts has made it clearer for me! So..there must be a place in my life for writing of some kind. It certainly stops..'my head from spinning' (?? not that my head does 'spin'..that's a figure of speech!) a lot of the time. I get plenty of opportunity to go back over what I've said in writing than verbally too which is another 'plus'; less risk of looking foolish in front of others!
The library's closing!!! Take care all! Nice to sort of 'meet' you! ;)
Love Jess.

Hello Jess. ;)
Writing is a gift from God, a talent we were intrusted with. In the Bible check out the parable of the Talents. The master never told any of the three what to do with their talent, only to do something. Start writing about what God has taught you since you got saved. Write about what He has revealed in His Word to you. Pray and ask for His help and guidance and then write, trust Him to show you the way. He loves you more than anyone can comprehend. He wants you to succeed and to bring Him glory. He said in His Word that He desires for you to prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers. Read His Word, let your soul prosper and then ask Him to help. Remember that He is the perfect Daddy, and He wants the best for you. He gives gifts without repentance, He won't take them back and He's not sorry He gave it to YOU! !thumbsup!
God Bless!
