Hi

Anyone know good avenues for enlisting the services of an editor...even a reciprocal setup with someone on this forum would be cool.

_____Just my openion here, but I don't see myself ever paying an editor. If I can't stand on my own two feet, then how will I make it threw my whole series? Just me. Anyhoot, wish I could help -- welcome to the board -- hello there by the way -- and all that jolly rot for you. :)

There are some good self-editing books on the market. Angel knows one, I can't remember the name of it (maybe it was Self-Editing for Fiction Writers).

Steve Laube recommends Self Editing for Christian Writers by Browne and King, the afore mentioned Self Editing for Fiction Writers, and How To Write Bestselling Fiction by Dean Koontz on his site.

Wow... I just checked Amazon for a copy of the Koontz book.... $25 used. Another book of his (maybe a different edition of this?) was $60.

Maybe the local library will have it. !thumbsup!

_____Self-editing ^four Fiction Writers: How to edit yourself into print. By Renni Browne & Dave King. The book was worth the read, I perchist it, but if you can check it out at your library and keep a few notes, you're fine.
_____Read this too: http://www.bartleby.com/141 . Now don't be a bone head like me and only read the first few paragraphs of Strunk.
_____I would suggest reading both for yourself before buying every dumb book on the shelf. Then you may see the view I have, that every editor has their own mind on how to edit and style a book.

Ooops.... I'm getting lazy... sorry! Writer's Digest (http://www.writersdigest.com/).

I am fairly new to fiction writing myself, and Koontz’s book was a big help to me. Do you write fiction? I look forward to seeing some of your work over in the critique section.
