35 years ago, I was lead singer in a 12 person band called the "Barefoot Gospel." I wrote a song called "The Stone Song" that caught the attention of the Bob Ashton Choral group based in Denver. Bob was visiting my voice teacher Jack coleman, who called me and asked me to bring the song over. It was to be recorded by the group on their new album in a month, then Bob unexpectedly died of heart failure. In the confusion that followed, I was just forgotten about somehow. That would have set me up pretty good if it would have been recorded. Moral of the story is, it helps to either be a performer yourself, or be friends with some who can showcase your work? (grin) Other than this "brush" with songwriting, I must acknowledge my ignorance about the field, but best wishes on your efforts in His name.

Jim.

I had a similar experience as Jim. My sister's voice coach was working with a young vocalist ( he worked with quite a few) who was being groomed for Nashville. Her producer had some conneciton with Reba MacIntyre and they were making a demo to shop. Anyway, through who knows who, one of my songs caught their interest and they were going to demo it. But as "chance" has it, she had a falling out with her producer and the whole thing fell through. Would have been nice. Anyway, it is beneficial to have some connections with a band or vocalist or perhaps a producer or someone who might get your songs into a public arena. A voice coach who works with promising artists would be a good connection. Songwriter's market is a good bet too but it's hard to break in on cold pitching. But NOT impossible. Do you know of any local people who would you could team up with? Lyricists need to team up with someone who can write catchy tunes. Do you sing? Can you make a demo of your songs? How about Open Mike events in your area? Anything where you can get your songs performed. There are song writing contests also. Those would be good too. God Bless.
