Hmmmm. $25.00 is a bit steep for an entry fee for one poem.

The cost is high, and I'm sure if you want a copy of the book with your poem in it, it'll be an additional $69.95 or some such sum. Been there, done that. It's all in how badly you want to see your poetry published. I did it once; won't do it again, but for some, it may be a beginning.

I've seen entry fees that high and higher for poetry contests. I decided to post this link because they are a fairly large reputable company that has been doing a song writing contest for years. (And it doesn't say anything about additional fees.) I dunno.

I decided if I couldn't make my poetry fly without having to pay entry fees, I'd walk.

Well, Salem is a pretty reputible Christian biz. They sell a news service to a lot of Christian stations. Here's a bit about them from their web site:

Salem Communications' leadership in the distribution of Christian content also extends into print through Salem Publishing, a leading publisher of magazines targeting the Christian and family themes audience. Each year more than 2 million magazines are distributed to audience that match the profile of Salem's radio audience. The Company's flagship publication, CCM Magazine®, has covered the contemporary Christian music industry for over 25 years, working to support the growth of contemporary Christian music. Salem Publishing is positioned to drive continued growth through the growth of Homecoming (published in conjunction with Bill and Gloria Gaither) , Faith Talk, Youthworker, and U magazines.
Still, think about it and do a little research on-line before you lay down your $25.
