:o Have you ever had a problem with getting free from everything that has absolutly nothing to do with what you're really wanting to meditate on? Like you sit down, ready to write and then the idea of: whether or not you have the stove on, did you check the mail, how many dishes arein the sink, did you do the laundry, ect. :o If not Well Done!
What things do you use to unlock your creativity? Do you:__ 1. Watch a movie? If so what kind?__ 2. Listen to your favorite music? If so what kind? __3. Ask others questions about thier lives to get insight on what people go through? What questions would you ask? __4. Read a book? If so what kind? __ 5. Do you just go off alone with a pen and paper/ labtop? If so where to? I'm gonna answer these too!

1. i love to watch comidies, love stories, action/ adventure, documentries, true stories, and most of all Biblical Movies. :D
2.I listen to instrumentals mostly, bluegrass gospel, Choir Hynms, and some contemperary Christian. I also like Sounds of Nature too. ;)
3. I'd ask about thier salvation. I'd ask whats the best and worst thing that's ever happened to you? If you could pick one time in your life when the blessings of God Showered down on you like none other time, when would it be?
4. The Holy Bible of course, Auto/biography of someone who stood out from all the rest.
5.I keep a journal, and I ususlly go to my bed room, out to the porch, and just be still and let it come to me like a daydream. :)

What inspires me to write? The Psalms.

Anybody who has kept up with my 'blog, The Faith Log (http://faithlog.blogspot.com), soon discovers that a lot of what I write about is instigated by some passage in the Psalms. In fact, I just finished writing a piece this morning called The Luxuriant, Pliable Heart (http://faithlog.blogspot.com/2005/07/luxuriant-pliable-heart.html), based on Psalm 37:4. (I divide the psalms into 30 days, five psalms for each day. Today is the 8th, which means I pray through Psalms 36-40).

I've been praying through the Psalms for over 15 years now, and it really has become an ongoing conversation between me and Yahweh. Psalms lend themselves so wonderfully for that because that is exactly what they are--living conversations between the LORD and His people.

There is the give and take of relationship and the psalm-writers don't hold anything back. Sometimes they are exuberant in praise, sometimes they whine and complain, sometimes they breathe out venom on their enemies.

Sometimes there is a real wrestling with God, Jacob-style. I like the title Mark D. Roberts has given to his book about the Psalms--"No Holds Barred." VERY appropriate.

Sometimes there is confusion and dissapointment. Psalm 88 does not have a happy ending --"The darkness is my closest friend" (NIV).

All these things are held in tension. Walter Brueggemann describes it as orientation, disorientation, reorientation.

But it all becomes part of the Book of Praises (Hebrew tehillim), as the Psalms are called, because it is all brought to the LORD for Him to deal with.

Does that entice you?

What usually inspires me is something that I have witnessed firsthand. Like if someone in the church has been condemned from another church member instead of forgiven for some sin committed. Or if I have witnessed someone being profiled, put-down, overlooked, talked about, etc and I use my pen to fight for them. I can knock out a 2 page poem with the quickness. Of course, the Holy Spirit is feeding me. Which is way cool. I just let Him lead and I just keep writing. Basically, anything that moves in my heart and I am feel just compelled to write about it.

All those things you mentioned can turn into stories and poems themselves. Don't restrict your creativity, they may relate to what you want to meditate on more than you currently realize.
Getting distracted can be easy, but when that urge to write is upon me, nothing else seems to matter

My greatest inspiration comes from God's creation.....the mountains, trees, oceans, wind, sunrises, sunsets, snow, rain; they become intertwined with the spirit that lives in my heart.....a life application of learning and growing, the essence of the experience. I love to read the Old Testament (I don't always clearly understand it all), but I can be so filled up and so humbled by God's blessing to a sinful people ( just like His people of today's world) I read a Psalm daily, but God's gifting to Soloman of Proverbs, are as sweet nuggets of gold to me, sweet and profitable to the soul....full of wisdom....

I mostly only write poetry, so I am also inspired by other poets..both living and dead....my greatest desire is to meet other poets, to somehow interact with them intrinsically , witness their lives, their being....I am intrigued by the unique beauty of their mind and spirit, by the stir in their heart.... beautiful and complex...I love to read about some of the greatest poets, what made them who they were...and I would consider it an honor to someday be able to write about the life of a poet.....one that I admired, that brought clarity to life and the struggles of man.....a soul winner for Jesus

And because I am a poet and keeping with what I wrote above, there is no particular spot where I write. I often times can have my greatest inspirations while washing dishes ( :D ) and looking out my kitchen window to the fields that border our property or there are times when I have to pulll my car off the side of the road and grab my writing pad out of my glove compartment and jot down my thoughts.....I am not a disciplined writer, it is God given as the spirit speaks to me...although I am able to gather my thoughts, meditate more deeply late at night when my house is quiet and I am alone. The mountains and the ocean bring out my deepest inspirations.

I have attempted many times, but have never in my life kept a journal......or what most would consider a journal...My thoughts and love letters to Jesus are written in my heart....because I know that is where He looks first.....

Blessings to all,
Donna

My dream is to open a facility to feed and clothe the needy. Whatever we make happen for others, God will make it happen for us. We have young people in the family that need to see that all things are possible in Christ, Jesus. For many years now we have had just enough, but not enough to be helpful in great measure for others. The natural help is only a way to reach out for the bigger picture. We want a platform to be able to witness and pray for those that might have money, but are unfulfilled in their minds or body. To help the lonely wealthy, those that have no family and yet they never learn that whatever you make happen for someone else, God will make your desire happen for you. In the facility, I would have the liberty of being who I am in the Lord, as well as encouraging and aiding other's to be all that they can be in the Lord. In the natural, there are many helps for people, but people seem to not realize that there is much more to this picture.
I haven't always known this stuff, but I realize that many will figure I am trying to show off, well, this is simply not the case. I have tapped into the reality of life. Through networking, many that have only a little seemingly, can use that which they have as a seed to move into a higher life for themselves and their families. I really believe that as Proverbs speaks of leanding unto the Lord, by helping the poor. One might say, what do I have to give to anyone? Giving of time is as important as giving money.
So my dream also consists of making available to the public the opportunity to do something similiar to boardering. As Moses was asked by God, "What is that in your hand." Moses saw it as only a rod, but God saw it from a bigger picture. So we use what we have in our hands and as with the fish and loaves, what we have, can be increased when we give it to the Lord. This might sound like a surmon, but I only share this as facts.
I you think you will ever be able to minister in your church, forget it, the work is outside. That is a good thing because there is liberty, freedom. I look deeply into my heart and just as you all have done, many beautiful pictures and desires arises in the heart. This is health and healing for the soul.
In years past, my goals and dreams were to travel around the world, but now I know that purposes change for the better. I could say that I want big houses and different cars, but what would be up with that? When my life is over here on earth, what would l have gained? For those that donot believe in the Lord as Savior of your souls, perhaps your dreams come down to travel, finding a lover, getting more stuff, etc., that is okay, but for those that have really tasted of the good life in the Lord, then His desire is your desire. You will probably be more apt to understand where my dreams and goals comes from. Even carnel will not see these desires as meaningful. As far as my earthly desire, to be able to speak and setup my new convert classes, because I know that people coming into the faith needs to speak and ask questions about their new walk. I love to set a pretty table for the family and prepare all the good things the family like to eat. I love the conversations we have around the table, when they come. Giving to my granddaughters surprises and see their faces light up. To open the facility and have a place to offer family and friends a place to work for a good amount of finances that will help them support their family. That way they will be able to see God has no repective person and will supply the needs for those that will work the work in His way.

Music really inspires me to write. The latest script I am writing is for screen, and I always see a scene appropriately set to the song I am listening to, then I build from that.

The latest song I was inspired by is by Josh Groban, recently, I was inspired to write a musical play from Sarah Groves CD, conversations. I have also been inspired by MaryMary, and others such as Earthsuit. All kinds of music inspires me!

When I write, I pull things from all my experience - sci-fi and fantasy novels I read as a kid, movies and T.V., etc. But it is the Bible that enables me to make sense of it and order it and shape it. Thus my source for meaning and purpose to my creation is Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Job. I turn to the Psalms to connect to the heart, and to the prophets (especially Revelation) for powerful imagery and insight to the unseen nature of reality.

After the Bible, I love to read poetry, such as T.S. Eliot, Robert Browning, Blake, Shakespeare, Donne, Marvell, etc.
