Actually, I signed up quite a while back. But things have been busy. I don't know that I ever posted anything. And then we moved. So now things are chaotic. But I am hopeful.

My wife and I live in Montana. Spring here is always a little confused. Snow and ice one day, rain and sunshine the next.

I produce web sites for local businesses, and do some ad design and copy in magazines and newspapers. I've been thinking of publishing a local paper again. Something once a month. We published a weekly newspaper for awhile in Western Montana. Lots of fun but very tiring, since we (my wife and I) did most of it ourselves (the reporting, photos, sports, ads, sales, washing dishes, etc.).

I have a couple of sites that you might like to visit. One tells about how to start your own newspaper (www.newspaper-info.com) and one is just for fun -- a collection of short stories, verse and stuff. Oh, that one is at www.jimsdesk.com.

I'm also working on developing a new site, www.house-n-land.com, where I'll be gathering information about (you guessed it) houses and land. It'll include all kinds of info about everything from building your own furniture to planting a garden. If you think you might be interested in contributing, contact me here or at jimsutton@myway.com. Contributers get a byline and a link to any site or blog you have going. Once the site actually gets going, we might even get paid.

Hope everyone here has a great week. My in-laws are coming to see us around Memorial Day. I know how that sounds, but I think it will be ok. At least I hope it will. Pray for me, if you think about it.

Later.

Jim

Welcome, Jim!

Montana is quite a ways from where I live -- Oklahoma.
I understand it's ranch country there. Do you live on a ranch? - own horses?

Jump right in and enjoy this site. And jimsdesk.com is a neat site. !thumbsup!

Don't live on a ranch, and no horses, but I do have ranches all around me. Wild pheasant, rabbits, deer, all kinds of birds, including mourning doves and the great horned owl.

Sorry to hear about your mom. My wife and I both are from Texas, originally, and we both love Montana as home. I love the high climate and the good winters.

Hi, Roo. Montana is in a drought, as well, but not as bad as much of Australia. This spring we have had better rains. Our area is the greenest I've seen it in five years.

I look forward to sharing with all of you as well.

Well, Oklahoma can boast of horses, rabbits, deer, all kinds of birds including mourning doves, and some owls! (I don't live in the country.) But tell me more about Montana; it's sounds like God's country. Please write a nature piece, so we can enjoy Montana
'territory' along with you. Thanks!

Gasp! You live in Montana and have no horses? If I lived there I'd have a herd of them :D I grew up in Auckland City New Zealand and always dreamed of moving to Montana. I was horse mad. I drew horses, read books about them and wrote stories of them. I dreamed of owning a white horse and naming it Montana. LOL I also had a romantic notion of living like an Indian.

Yes, I've been to Oklahoma. There are some great places there. As far as God's country goes, you're right in thinking of Montana as that kind of place. But as I have traveled about the U.S., Canada and Old Mexico, I find that every region has its great points.

Did I mention that my wife and I are both from Texas, orginally? When I was growing up in Houston, I only wanted to be someplace else. So, at the age of 15, I began to hitchhike around the country. Visted California, Nashville, Denver, and even cut through Oklahoma at least once, off the beaten path of the freeways. I've been back through, since then, as well. And I've lived in New Mexico, Kansas, & Colorado, which are neighbors.

As far as I'm concerned, all of America is God's country. And I'm sure that if I were to visit other continents, I'd soon say the same about them. In most places, as soon as you can get clear of the bigger towns and cities, you're entering a good place. And I suppose that's one thing that draws me to the region I live in now -- fewer people, more open spaces, a little more breathing room than some of the states back east.

I really like people, but I love to live in places not overly dominated by human beings.

Jim
