Hello everyone,
_____Diffrent threads inspired me to start this one. It will probably get way off subject but who cares. On to what this thread will start about.
_____Who all here has a history on the net? I'm talking how many years, pages you used to frequent, and so forth. Me personaly, I had a small amont of places that I used to go to. Some of them have been very useful though.
_____www.christanchat.com , was where I met my wife. Before then, I spent a lot of time searching for the right lady there. The site has gone down the dran sence I last was there. They started to charge people - went the way of mp3.com. :(
_____Durring that time I was a big gamer (still love games), places like www.blizzard.com kept me busy with patches and online gaming.
_____After all that muck, I was married. I stumbled apon www.christiancoders.com. I was looking for a good vidio game to play for free, like www.gamehippo.com hands out. I found something a bit more interesting. Soon I joined my first team and off I set on writing vidio game stories.
_____I still have those stories, and some of them are very painful for me to read. The lack of skil - everything was a mess then! :o
_____Anyhoot, I met Gumpngreen there and Veritech. After many teams busting up, I was going to quit. My wife said no, blah blah, Gump sent me here. I've been plaguing this place with my bull sence 2003 I think.
_____That's my online history in short. Other than me going back to www.jesuscafe.com for a time. Nice people, but chat-rooms take up too much time. Over half of it is, hello blah, how are you blah, good blah, look new girl, what's your blah blah blah, and so forth.
_____Welp, that be it. Anyone else have a history they can remmember and share? Who knows, maybe we will all be out looking at diffrent sites to see what makes us so silly.

I think one of the very first places I frequented on the web was Godspeak. I took some online classes about the prophetic gifting, and after awhile got involved in the activation chatroom and even moderated for awhile.

Another place I went to a lot in early days was a forum that was part of Ken Verheeke's music ministry. I learned a lot about worship, and acquired two fabulous CDs.

I also used to go to a chat room sponsored by Zion Prophets and served as a moderator there for awhile. One person I met there I'm still very good friends with...we talk every day on AIM.

And I used to spend way too much time playing Bible trivia at a place that was set up like a chat room. I still go there occasionally.

For a brief time I went to a chat room called Spirit Led Women and I met two of my closest friends there. I also talk to them daily on AIM.

And Merry and I enjoyed a wild writing season at LookingLand. :)

These days I divide my time between here and a health forum.

Not very exciting.

Firefeet,
_____You've been a moderator at a lot of places. That must of taken up time. By the way, I like your new avy. ;)

Firefeet, I like your new avy. ;)

After a few frantic screams at Mr Bill and some desperate whining to Becca, they let me break the rules and have a gigantic avatar. Ain't it precious? :D

Not breaking the rules.... making new rules. !thumbsup!

Kinda like when I got my little thumb guy imported into the list of smilies. :D

_____Do I have the darkest avy on here. No, someone had an eyeball... hmm. I know a place with some great smilies, but I don't know if they are free.

_____What the heck are workshop points?

I have implemented a major change to our workshop (critique) forums. From this day on, the workshops forums will operate on a point system.

- Each time you offer feedback or critique another writer's work in the workshops, you will earn one point.
- Posting your own work for critique costs two points.
- Only members and active members can view or participate in the workshops.

In essence, each member must offer two critiques (or feedback) for each critique requested of their own work. This new system helps ensure that all work posted for critique will receive a response. I feel it is a much more fair and balanced way to manage the workshops feature.

Points system thread in Announcements forum. (http://4Believers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3034)

And thus acquiring the name Bill the Thumb. :D

What the heck are workshop points?

Points you get for critiquing someone's work and which you need in order to "pay" to post in the workshops.

Yeah, Mr. Otis had the watching eyeball... but he changed it to a running pig

ROFL. A running PIG? Why????

I dunno... it's cool. He uses it as his avy on his forums too.

_____I thought it was a cute pig. Bekka's idea is great, and I'm glad she added it (even though I'm never in there). Oh, and I'm sitting in the chatroom right now.

I bought myself a ridiculously expensive book on earning money using computers. This was a step by step guide to writing your own website and having shops. I can't believe that I actually managed to learn how to do this and had my own virtual shops - didn't earn a dime but it was good fun. Also wrote websites on Remote control airplane modelling, The Prisoner (1960's cult tv series)

Creative writing sites, poetry, health, disability, inspirational, religion, advice, arts and crafts. Really got into crafting for charity. Joined many online charity groups.

Soul Food Cafe if you are into writing, art, journalling.
Bible.com - website with a project you can work on - 'How would you spend 1billion dollars on getting God's message to the world?'

Finally CW.

By reading the posts thus far, I can see I'm wayyyyyyyyyyyy inexperienced ... but then, I'm ah ... let's see, what's the phrase. Technologically challenged. In other words, I'm the one they write the "dummy" books for. :p

I started on crosswalk.com but after I became a member of writing.com, I really left the chatting and threads of crosswalk and became quite active on writing.com. But, I've let my permium membership expire (the price went up way too high) and so I rarely go there.

How do you guys find the time to be so involved? I belong to one active author's group and I come here. That's it and I really would like to post some of my work (after reading and critiquing others, of course) but finding the time is hard.

I'm getting ready to leave on a 5-day trip to Ireland (not complaining, no siree, not me), and when I come back I've got start developing a marketing plan for the book.

I have to say, this is my favorite place. !thumbsup!

Blessings, Francine

Did you have the same pen name on Writing.Com? I also used to be a member there and recognise it from somewhere.

:) Yep, that's me. Although, when I was automatically downgraded to a free membership, all my stuff got dumped out of my port. And I haven't had the time to go back and put anything back in. I do enjoy reading some of the stuff there. Some really great authors.

What was your pen name there ... if you don't mind my asking?

Francine

writefx,
_____Thanks for mentioning Bible.com. I forgot to mention them, I'm over there all the time. Oh and to that billion doller qustion, I would put it in the bank, and use the anual intrest in veriuse ministries that I know.

writegirl1949,
_____My net runs below 3K a second, so I have to multi-task. I'm normaly writing replyes why other pages load. If I'm not doing that, I'm working on something else, while waiting for pages to load. That's how I find the time, I use every little bit of it.
_____Hope you have fun in Ireland, be sure to bring us back pictures. ;)

Hi,

About Writing.Com - I can't remember my pen name. It might have been the same as here. My computer's crashed that many times since that I lost all my connections.

I used to have a critique forum, do contests using word puzzles and write a lot about why people fail to get published - that used to generate a lot of hate mail!

You could spend all day reading couldn't you? I didn't know that so many different genres were in existence.

I lost interest after downgrade too. What did you used to write?
