I am a published writer through a POD publisher.
I have a true-to-life-thriller novel just out this past Feb.
Problem is, no TV interviewer will have me on their show they say because it's a NOVEL. They claim they only do self-help/bio books.
Harry Potter and the Left Behind books SHOWED US that novels are desperately wanted by the public.
The public has been bombrded with self help books for 15 years and they now want a change and something to READ !
Since I do not have huge money sitting around, and it took every cent I had to get this book published, I can't afford TV ads or any other type of ad. I was hoping for at least one TV interview, but they will not do it.
How do I break through that 'good old boy' ceiling and get on a TV program for an interview ?
Christian themed books should get all the support they can from Christian TV programs, but they don't - why ?
The world, and even the media news, promoted Harry Potter, and that wasn't even an American author !
Why don't Christians support and promote for their own Christian writers like the world does for their's ?

How did that lady do it that wrote that ONE and only book she wrote ?
She was on every TV show there was ! She was just a housewife that never wrote anything before. Same with the Harry Potter writer, JK Rowlings.
How did the Left Behind series get TV interviews for their NOVELS ?
Why do the TV programs tell ME that they do not do "NOVELS" ?
The 700 Club did Pat Robertson's Novel he wrote that time. He had book interviews all over the place on all networks ! Why can't I get a TV book interview ?
My book deals with every subject that has happened in the news - my 'fiction' book has been coming ALIVE ! It's turned out to be very prophetic !
Those that have read it , love it, so why can't I nail down at least one TV interview ?
How do I break this blockage ?

I'm not sure why this is in the suggestion box.

To answer your question about how other authors get on TV, most of them (such as Rowling) are connected with publishers and publicisits that make those kinds of arrangements. Since you're working with a POD, you don't have that kind of backing. If I'm not mistaken, Rowling's first Potter book was already a huge success in England before it ever appeared over here, which is yet another reason why it was promoted so heavily.

Why doesn't Christian media support Christian fiction? I think they do to an extent. But it's kind of a catch-22--you have to earn the respect of the Christian market before you can get the attention from the Christian media. It's a two edged sword. The Christian media can't support something if it would be perceived as "selling-out" by supporting it. So they play it safe. The Left Behind books didn't get much media attention until after they'd sold 40+ million copies and had 5 or 6 books in the series. Frank Peretti's first novel took over a year to start selling. It's not like there are a whole lot of Christian media outlets out there right now anyway, and the ones that are exist because they cater to their market and report mostly on things the market is already familiar with and accepting of.

How can you promote your book? Set up a website with a large enough sample of your book to make people want to buy it. Get involved with online communities like this. Do some promotion. A friend of mine has a POD book and he generated enough sales to offset the cost of publishing by offering autographed copies on his website. A writer in my hometown has had some great sucess by setting up booths at festivals and flea markets selling his books. Your best best to get your book out there is to start locally and work your way out from there. You can also get some good buzz going by writing short stories for sites such as http://www.fusemagazine.net or some of the other online e-zines that cater to the same audience as your book.

I was in my local ReadMore Bookstore this weekend and they have a whole shelf of local authors, many of whom are POD or Vanity press published. You might want to go talk to the managers of "local" bookstores (and by local I mean pretty much anywhere within interest and within drivind distance--I noticed a few books by authors as far as 60 miles away and living in another state) about ordering copies of your book for such promotion.

Here's another idea--I haven't checked into it much but it might help: https://print.google.com/publisher/

Thank you for the reply. Sorry , I didn't know I was not suppose to write here, I didn't see any e-address to write to to ask the question.
I saw other questions listed so I thought this was the place.

I went to your suggestions, to Google and to the Paul link, - the Paul link goes to blank page with message that says it does not exist.
I already have a web page with excerpts from the book, and I advertize on Freeads and places like that.

There is a Christian book TV program where all they do is interviews from authors , but they said they don't do "NOVELS". Yet I've seen novels on there.
You would think Christians would WANT to do all they could to get good reading out to the public with all their saying how they need good reading out there for the public to read.. .. They sure did enough complaining about Harry Potter, but they won't DO anything to GET good reading out there.
My father died waiting (literally) for a break for a 5 minute TV interview. Seven years he waited and kept trying ! He never saw it and I think that is a sad comentary for Christians ! I'm finding out that they seem to be more greedy than the worldly ones are. It's so sad. Wonder how God is seeing it all ?

I was told before I started this book, that I'd better write for the world because getting a Christian novel published and out to the public is all but impossible unless you have a famous name. I didn't want to believe it. I thought that Christians really wanted to get the Word and good reading out and wouldn't do that. - - That they really meant what they would always say and complain about - that there's not enough good wholesome reading out there for people, so people are driven to the Harry Potter type stuff. Yet they do not help anyone GET those wholesome books out to the people ! So how can they complain ?
Live and learn.

Where are we suppose to write our questions to ?
I do not see any e-address for questions.
I didn't know I was not suppose to use this forum, sorry.
But you never know, maybe others are wanting to ask the same questions and don't know how or where to write either..
Maybe you could put some mention of NOT writing in the forum and where TO write instead, so others don't make my mistake.

This is a suggestion box, a place for members so suggest features for the site. There's a general discussion area to talk about writing. There's a member support area to ask questions about this site. I don't know what link you clicked on but in case you clicked on one that's not showing you the other forums, this link http://4Believers.com/forums will show you all the forums topics on the site.
