Am I missing it? Is there a place for song writing here on the forum?

Yes, some poetry can become a song but not all songs are poetry...Just wondering....God Bless Russ~Anna Lee

Russ~Anna, We have a few who write songs but, no, there is no forum for it. Go to Support and post a thread asking if it can be added. It may take a while for Rebecca to answer 'cause I know she is really busy. So be patient.

Lynn: Thanks... I think it might be a good Idea...I think some of my songs are good but could be great with some teaking 8)

Lawi: The only thing I can tell you is to keep writing...If you have the heart and the passion for them...I believe that it is heart, that make songs special...Pray about it and get writing...

I would like to learn more about writing lyrics for songs.
I replied to an article asking for lyrics, I sent about 15 poems and the guy was interested in one. It was a lovely poem, though I say it myself, and when read had great balance and beauty. He changed the words to make it suitable to be set to music and a melody was written for it by his colleague. They sent me a fair copy, properly attributed - words by.. music by.. I was very pleased.

However, for me the poem had been destroyed.
But there was something worthwhile in its place.

A better way, which I need to learn, is to write song lyrics directly, not via a poem.

Derby: I used to write songs on my guitar music and words coming together at the same time...I lost my voice b/c of illness...it wasn't great but it got the song written...
Now I just write the lyrics...I think it is more difficult b/c I can/t hear the music with it like I used and it gave me a rythm...but I think my words are better now... I think you might like to set out to write a song Derby...Looking for the Chorus and then a good hook...You might not lose the beauty of the song even if it has to be tweaked a bit...But wouldn't it be cool to be able to learn from each other 8)
I would love to be in a room full of song writers and just write and work off each other...not always sometimes its personal but I think it could be fun...

Most of my poems end up being songs, so I just post any songs into the poetry forum, although I haven't done that in a long time.

That is a great tip, thanks!

I don't play any instrument but my wife sings and has an old electronic keyboard, it hasn't seen the light of day for years, I will dust it down and make a racket, to frighten the birds - and probably the neighbours.

Is your loss of voice long-term?
I assume that you can play some recorded music and write words to that, or a friend can sing your words to music for you to listen to and then work on.

A good chorus and a hook - OK.

Being English, to me an 18 wheeler is a huge articulated lorry. Is it converted into a motor home?
Excuse me asking.
