View Full Version : Thought for the day...

Today, I'm sick. Yuckie sinus infection. I'm feeling pretty low. I jump on the net, go to a couple of my favorite forums, and get blown away by how knowledgable everyone is--as usual. Then I see a question somebody asked a long time ago and nobody bothered to take the time to answer it. So I did. And this person was extremely grateful. Already replied to say thanks only a few hours after I left the post.
So, my thought for the day is this, no matter how bad we're feeling, no matter how worthless or useless or bad, there's always somebody out there who could use our help in some small way. !thumbsup!

I had the most amazing divine encounter yesterday...and it fits so well with this theme!
(Tiny bit of background to explain...I work at the Salvation Army Thrift Store. The store funds the outreach programs which are organized and facilitated by the Salvation Army Church. And this job is only part time...and I am desperately looking for a full time job.)
Before I left for work, I got a phone call that I didn't get a job that I was really expecting and counting on getting. I was feeling so disappointed and stressed and frustrated. God had me read in 1 Peter...that all of our trials are for the perfecting of our faith. I wanted to scream, "I don't care about my faith...I can't take this anymore!"
This afternoon at work a man came in and asked to speak to the manager. I don't know exactly what happened then because I was busy with customers but all the women at work went outside with this man. When I was done with the customers, I went outside also. The man was homeless and had come looking for help, which we do at the church, not at the store. (Everyone was outside because the man had a dog.) Long story, short version....we all fed his dog and gave him some food and bought him some clothes.
A bit later, I thought the man had left, but when I turned around from taking care of a customer, he was standing there. He said, "I just wanted to thank you, ma'am." Totally led by the Holy Spirit....I went over and hugged him and I started to cry and all I could say was, "God bless you." He started to cry and he said, "I used to know Jesus." And then he told me his story. He used to be a pastor and he came under severe attack and nearly lost everything....and he just gave up and walked away. He's been on the streets for five years.
And, again totally led by the Holy Spirit, I laid hands on him and started prophesying. He was crying so hard. Then he hugged me...and left.
Instantly God brought me back to that thought I had had in the morning, "I don't care about my faith...I can't take this anymore!" and it was as though He was saying, "Well, this is the other option."
I cannot stop thinking about and praying for this man. Oh Father, restore him, heal his bitterness, bring him back to his divine calling, hold him in Your arms...

I was blessed by what you shared, FireFeet. What a heavenly Father we have! I just know you're going to be blessed with just what you need. I think Mr. Otis is right, the devil considers you one dangerous woman and hence the constant annoyance. You'll break through, though.
(Hey, you up for a certain project yet?)

I've been that discouraged, bitter person. I am so thankful that there are a few Firefeet's out there who can see past the failures and bitterness to the broken spirits, the pain and the shame. We're waisting time and space on this planet if we can't be "Jesus walking." You fed that hungry stranger, Firefeet. Physically and spiritually. You brought Christ the reward of His suffering. You'll never have to hear "if you did it not to the least of these, you did it not to Me." That's what it's all about.

You are soooo smart WG!! And I'm actually serious this time.. :D
Kenny tells me you two are communicating thru email. That's wonderful. I'm also posting to say that I'm BAAAAACCCCK!! I sincerely hope that I'll have more time to visit this site. Did kenny tell you that I got an article published in Christian Chronicles??!!
Maybe one day someone will buy an article that will leave me freer to do work for God... I need encouragement for writing.. Seems when I get down.. I loose the ability to write.
As always, be much in prayer for us and we for you!
Love in Christ

Thanks Shirley..
I was going to post my article that was published in Christian Chronicles in May, BUT.. I cannot find the original paper!! I had it on my puter, but I had to reformat puter.. And the one that was published is slightly different from what I actually wrote; for the sake of fitting better into the issue... I wish I had emailed myself a copy!!
Sure wish YOU still had it! But we BOTH formatted the puters!
oh well! it's good to be back!
God Bless!
