This is an excerpt taken from my newly published book: Poured Out, Spilled and Broken". (Can be purchased on Amazon.com)

The cells are dark.
No light flickers, not even a spark.
The walls are high,
And look as though they could touch the sky.
The bars are thick like iron ore.
How did I get here? Where’s the door?
I must escape from this awful place!
I feel I can’t move, but there’s no time to waste.
Feet, don’t fail me, help me to run.
Out of the Darkness and into the Son.
Jesus … Can you hear me?
Do you see my isolation?
How did this happen?
I’m surrounded by desolation!
Then suddenly out of the blackness,
A dim light appears.
And a Hand reaches forth to wipe away my tears.
A still, small voice begins speaking to my mind.
Saying: “Child I’m here, calm down, you’ll be fine.”
As I take hold of His Hand, the cell doors swing open,
And His words bring comfort to me as they’re spoken.
As we walk out together, hand in Hand.
Loneliness leaves me at the Master’s command.

Tracy’s Thought to Ponder:
“Bust out of Satan’s cell of loneliness and run to God’s shell of protection.”

Tracy,
This is very good. I think everyone feels this way from time to time. Thanks for reminding us there is a way out.

I don't know how anyone can escape dispair without Jesus. I remember the darkness of those times, and thank God that he loved me first. Thank you for your work (and his) that may be the pinpoint of light that gives hope to someone in the darkness.

There is no other way to see the Light except in the darkness. We all experience those dark closets of despair. Thank you for sharing this. Congrats on your book. I pray it does well.

That is an awesome poem. Congradulations on your book. I pray it does well also. There are so many people who need to hear what you are saying.

"Been there, done that." Christ's light only needs to be a wee flicker when you're in that darkness. But as you wrote so well, He turns on the flood lights & holds our hand!
I pray that "Poured Out..." reaches the many still experiencing the darkness.

Good job on this piece. It took me a little while to get the flow of your poem. But I like how the crescendo slowly build in the middle when you wrote, ...out of the Darkness and into the Son." I use metaphors like that alot in my poetry, so, you scored very high points with me with that line and all the lines that followed. By the way, make sure you get a copy of my poetry book entitled, "Dawning of the House of Tears." You can find & purchase it on, www.publishamerica.com. When i can. I'll check out your book, too.

Continue to read poems of some of the great poets. A few of my favorites are: Paul Laurence Dunbar, Pablo Neruda, King David, King Solomon and Dr. Maya Angelou. The Biblical books: Isaiah, Psalms, Song of Solomon and Proverbs offer such rich poetry that flows smoother than milk or honey. yet they're profound in their content. I draw my inspiration from those books, and as i write, with the mindset on pleasing God, my poetry becomes the Nile River flowing my soul. And that will happen to you to. When we read more and build our vocabularies, we start to sharpen our craft, and the very talent that God blessed us with flourishes all for His glory.

Keep up the great work!

Congratulations on your book of poetry! The poem you posted is so moving! Thank you for sharing it with us here. I could definitely feel the darkness surround me as I read through and was so relieved when you found the Son! It does feel like that doesn't it, when we forget to trust in our Lord? I can't wait to read more of your work. Best wishes to you as you continue to move forward in your journey!! ~~Dana
