I just received the following e-mail from the ACLJ, Jay Sekulow's group. I know his language is consistently--and perhaps unnecessarily--superlative, but he does keep me informed on what is happening in our government today.

Dear David,

You're being targeted by one of the most powerful organizations in the world.

The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) has Christians in their crosshairs. They are lobbying the United Nations to adopt a resolution that would make speaking out against Islam a crime ...

... A crime punishable by imprisonment, heavy fines, and even death.

Stand with the ACLJ - and the ECLJ - as we oppose the OIC and put an immediate end to this anti-Christian bigotry. Add your name right now to our PETITION OPPOSING THE ORGANIZATION OF THE ISLAMIC CONFERENCE.

Here's the dangerous situation: The OIC is the largest lobbying organization inside the United Nations. In fact, next to the U.N., the OIC is the largest global organization.

They're attempting to pass a sinister resolution that is nothing more than blatant religious bigotry. Called ''Combating Defamation of Religions,'' it sounds palatable - however, it boldly targets men and women of faith who speak out against Islam.

This is very important to understand. This radical proposal would outlaw Christianity ... it would make the proclamation of your faith an international crime.

Send a powerful message to the OIC and take a strong stand against anti-Christian bigotry by adding your name to our nationwide campaign right now. Sign the PETITION OPPOSING THE ORGANIZATION OF THE ISLAMIC CONFERENCE.

In his recent dissent on the Supreme Court's ruling on Guantanamo Bay, Justice Scalia said, ''America is at war with radical Islamists.''

Never has this rung more true than today. Never have Christians been more targeted for their religious beliefs. And never have we faced a more dangerous threat than the one posed by the OIC.

Put your name on the line in defense of your faith! Sign our petition (http://www.aclj.org/) (on the right of the homepage screen) and support the ACLJ as we face the United Nations on your behalf.

Let me be clear: This is an important opportunity for you to stand in unified support of the religious rights of individuals around the globe who are routinely persecuted - and sometimes put to death - because of their religious beliefs.

It could one day be you and I. We must act now to combat this resolution and work to protect the religious rights of all individuals.

Thank you.
What baffles me most is how we Christians can be constantly accused of using brute force to convert people in secret, while hate-filled Muslims can do the very same thing out in the open and no one makes a peep. We've gotta pray for this situation--Sekulow is not known for spreading unfounded rumors--and battle the vicious reign of Allah with the powerful yet merciful power of God.

Thank you for posting this! I get mail from the ACLJ too but missed this some how. It is baffling isn't it. It only makes sense when we realize that it's the powers and principalities in high places who are behind it all. We must work against it in the physical realm but even more so in the spiritual! Lets get out our weapons of warfare!!! I join you in prayer my friend !thumbsup!.

But I'm a bit confused... The UN can't tell America what to do right? And the US would never enforce it b/c it violates the first amendment: the freedom of religion and freedom of speech... and why would other countries have to abide by it either?

???

LU, I tried to fix the link to get rid of your personal info and editted your post. However, the link still shows your info. This is very weird. I've never encountered this before. I don't know why your info would keep showing up instead of a blank petition. I don't know that it is removable.

Hey, John! Glad to have you aboard. New members usually drop by the Meet and Greet forum and introduce themselves. Hope you will. One suggestion...you might want to remove your email address as we have cyber trollers that like to fish!

Thanks for the greeting, friend, and suggestion -- which I just followed by posting a brief bio of myself which -- warning! -- might be hazardous to your mental health and the mental health of others.*

OK. Now I can't be sued having posted this warning.

Just Google "U.N. resolutions "Combating Defamation of Religions"". You can see the document for yourself, plus a few pithy commentaries on it.
