Will Hollywood ever have another Western icon like John Wayne or Clint Eastwood? Do we really have the action heroes like Stallone and Arnold. I enjoy National Treasure, Spider Man, Iron Man, Pirates, and Rush Hour. I want to see Hancock, Mummy3, and Journey to the Center of the Earth.

I think the closest thing we have is Tom Selleck or Sam Elliott.

The time of the Western, as a genre, has passed, but if you're looking for an icon, look no farther than Russell Crowe in 3:10 to Yuma. He was brilliant as the renaissance-man outlaw.

Yep, Russell Crow and you might add Kevin Cosner (not too brilliant but okay) and Robert Duvall. I love Duvall. I also think Tommy Lee Jones does a pretty good job.

Because I'm an historical epic FAN my still most favorite role is Maximus in Gladiator. I also liked the quirky western he co-starred in, The Quick and the Dead and of course Cinderella Man, Master and Commander and a sorta off beat comedy; A Good Year.
