Hello everyone,

Just wanna say nice to meet you here!

This is a nice forum, and a nice place for me to improve my Christianity especially in writing christian articles.

I have a very strong desire/interest, and hobby as well I guess, in writing useful christian articles that can be used to inspire people and eventually bring them closer to God.

My most interest is in learning to write christian business articles, u know, stuff like finance, money management for personals/businesses, etc.
I'm also in the process of starting/building my own website called wealthy christian. (www.wealthychristian.com).

Well, I need a quick suggestion/direction from you, where should I start from here?

I look forward to learning and sharing God's wisdom with you in this forum.
Cheers,
Irvin

First off - Hi Irvin! :)

I'm gonna tag on to your intro post cuz its my first time here too! Hi everyone!

I mostly write poetry as a way to "empty my brain" when it gets overloaded with life's worries, although recently God has led me to write more stories/articles that relate to every day life as a christian. Mainly i seek to improve my writing skills in both poetry and prose so that I may be better used to bring glory to His name.

I've really enjoyed what i've read here so far and I'm looking forward to being a part of this forum. (And to your articles Irvin)

God bless!
Rachel

HI! My name is Merry and I would like to welcome you! It's quiet right now because everybody's off writing. If you're quiet you can hear the click of keyboards from here. So grab some coffee and I think the CW kitchen has some Danish if you like. But we're looking forward to getting to know you! I don't know too much about websites (I am the last person to advise anyone on anything computer oriented-trust me) but there are people around here who know what they're doing and maybe we can get on of them to respond.
See ya' soon!

Merry

"Merry! Merry!" FireFeet shouts. "Looooook...TWO new people! Time for a PARTY!"

FireFeet scurries about baking brownies and pies and muffins and brewing tea. She ties balloons randomly about the room and drapes the room in confetti tissue banners. The banquet table is spread with an Irish linen tablecloth and candles are lit.

With a flourish and a broad smile, FireFeet greets Poseoff and HisForever. "Welcome to this wonderful wonderful place where we enjoy dessert and writing in equal measure. I'm delighted to make your acquaintance. Now...what do you take in your tea?"

:D

Whew! I'm glad it's you, FireFeet, says Merry. It's been so quiet on the grounds lately, I thought anything above a whisper might get us pelted with Rocky Road....without the ice cream! Here, let me blow up a few balloons! Whoo-hoooo!

hey firefeet - can you make caramel brownies? :D *His4ever's eyes glaze over at that delicious thought* ....word of warning, sugar makes me muy loco! :p

FireFeet hands His4Ever a platter of ooey gooey hot-from-the-oven CARAMEL BROWNIES! "Go loco...muy luco!" :D

Merry is gripping a pen and writing pad, with eyes glazed over from lack of sleep, says, "Ahhh, I need carmel brownies! Wahhhh! I have too much to write, not enough hours in the day and school is about to start....AAHHHH!"

FireFeet hands her a plate and says, "Here, have a brownie. Need some milk?"

Merry sniffles slighty and in a croaky voice answers, "Yes..."

Well, I need a quick suggestion/direction from you, where should I start from here?

Well, where do you want to go? If you're looking to get paid for your writing, then you'll have to go get in that big line over there. Lucky you, your number is 3,487,386. The lady at the window is now serving number 3. :D Seriously, though, the best place to start is here. Post some work in the writer's workshop and look for some honest critiques of it. I've come to believe that the first mark of a true writer is one who can discern the good critique from the self-indulgent babble. There are plenty of places in the Writer's Wanted board where you can submit work. Also, there's a couple of books at your library you can check out: Sally Stuart's Christian Writer's Market Guide and the Writer's Market Guide (Not Christian). Find markets there that pique your interest, check out the magazines/websites/books that those particular companies produce, and if you find that your work would be a good fit, don't hesitate to submit. You'll find plenty of books at your library that will help you submit your work, everything from query letter to cover letter (and the stuff in between).

If your goal is to write a book, well, you've still come to the right place.

Hi everyone,

Thanks to wgjones for your suggestion and tips.
Well, I don't plan to get paid for writing, but if it's possible in the future, I may give it a go.

Basically, I enjoy writing, putting all those things in my mind inspired by God's wisdom on papers, and more importantly putting all these wisdom/writings/lessons in my life which eventually bring great blessings to myself and other people.

And I must say at this stage, i mean at my age 24, I'm mostly involved with stuff like career, business, finance, and so forth.

Thanks again everyone for welcoming me. God bless!
Irvin

Hello happy members,
Firstly, why read fiction? The purpose of narrative is to present us with complexity and ambiguity. If life's lessons could be reduced to single sentences, there would be no need for fiction.Convinced?
Novels enlighten and entertain. What is apparant, is the delight in speaking to widely read people, such as fellow members----who sparkle. Most have vivid imaginations, and can tell a story well. And the ChristianWriters is the finest website that I have found after voraciously surfing for hours. But, this you all know. Most people will only know you by what you say, and how well you say it. And more important, you are judged by your writing skills-or lack of them.Would you like to aspire to write as well as CS Lewis, or Teillard de Chardin, the Jesuit scholar? Are you capable of writing the great novel? Can you convince yourself that you don't need to read widely, in order to turn out wonderfully clear writing, that can surely only come from stimulating fiction.
I am writing a revelationary fictitional tale about the twenty-second century, entitled:'The Cloister Conspiracy'.Set in three locations, South Africa, London and Cambridge, it revolves around several charismatic professionals. There is the leading Penetcostal preacher, with the gift of prophecy, and a Barrister, a Veterinary surgeon, literay agents, lecturers in creative writing, and many corusscationg couples, eager to learn about their futures. There are lots of psychological twists, which you all will love. But more about this book later.
I started out with a few words on fiction.Let me conclude with a summary:
The house of fiction has many windows, so why not peer in through a few of them? All human life is there, in the house of fiction, and this is what makes the paradox more beguiling: for, if you really want to know about the world, its denizens and the lives they lead, then the place you'll find the nearest thing to the truth---is firstly in God--the author of truth, and our quest to write the great novel.Good reading, and please add your incisive and redolent word of wisdom.Be energised---but above all---be enthusiastic in all you do.Amen

Justonevoice quietly advises everyone to watch out for that cookie eating mouse. Thank goodness there is a cat in the forum.

Hehehehe I missed all the fun!
