A non-fiction book I wrote almost got published by a UK Christian publisher last year. After 18 months of to-ing and fro-ing from editorial committee to marketing committe, the marketing team decided there wasn't a big enough market for it in the UK, despite the editorial team giving it their full backing. Naturally, I was very disappointed, not least because when I started writing it I felt it was a book coming directly from God's heart (if you know what I mean). But I let it die; there was nothing I could do. Anyway, an American agent has just contacted me to say she might be interested in taking it on and pitching to US publishers. She said it could take a few months for a decision to be made though. I'm scared to get my hopes up again. Please pray for me.

fevsmith, I'll certainly pray that this is the road to publication. Just remember, this work to which the Lord has seen fit to call us all is a roller coaster ride. It's inherent in the biz! Just try to keep your spirit balanced. !thumbsup!

Thanks Lynn. I've been on the roller coaster for 10 years now!

Fevsmith, best wishes and, more importantly, prayers in this endeavor. You're a very creative writer. Keep working while you wait and hope for enough distractions to make the time go more quickly!

Thanks everyone. And Lyn, your comment about at least being on it made me laugh. I took my three-year-old daughter to the fair for the first time on Saturday. Apart from all the little rides for her, the only 'big' one I could manage was the ferris wheel - and even that made me a little nervous. There was a time when I would be first in line for the biggest, scariest rollercoaster in the park. I've lost my nerve! And maybe it's rubbed off professionally too. Or maybe it's just too much puking!

Oh, and I have been published before - as a ghostwriter and co-writer and hundreds of articles in magazines. I've also had a children's book published but it was with a small publisher and didn't get very far. I'm still hoping to break into mainstream book publishing.
