Stipulating prayerful inquiry, how can you know whether the obstacle(s) to the task with which you believe God has charged you are not His objection to your misperception?
Thanks for your input.

What a question! I hope someone has the answer because I would love to know it. I do NOT have the answer and have found myself more than once trying to determine which hand of that scale feels heavier!

PRAISE !
When one has two opposing “commands”, praise conquers. Our enemy can’t stand us praising Him from whom all blessings flow. Sometimes it takes but moments, but other times (when our enemy puts on a deaf ear) it takes longer.
Numerous times in our travels, my wife and I have had to merely begin praising Him.
Sitting at a border crossing, where we knew the Lord of the Harvest asked us to go, the “authorities” told us we didn’t have the proper paper work in order to enter their country.
Rather than acknowledging the legitimate "obstacle" was from the proper authority of the land, we tested to see if this obstacle was from Him.
After I explained to the "authority" how far we came, they merely stated that we had come a long way for nothing.
Rather than retreat in defeat, we merely sat on a bench and softly began to sing praises to our God. In song, we acknowledged He is in control of the entire universe.
Other people were processed to enter as we quietly praised Him. Much later, the man in charge marched up to us and said, “OK. This time you will be allowed to enter, but next time make sure you have all of your paperwork in order.”
During each of the following times we visited that particular country, we had everything according to their requirements.
Let His praise be continually on your lips, and walk in victory.

Those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength, they will mount up with wings as eagles, they will run and not grow weary they will walk and not faint. This is in Isaiah somewhere I think and its a paraphrase. I think I remembered most of the words. I can look up the reference for you if you'd like.
Prayer, waiting on Him, meditation, reading His word. At some point, if you are really seeking the Lord, He will show you if you are obeying something He wants you to do or are off doing your own thing in disobedience.
We have a promise that the Holy Spirit will lead and guide us in all truth. If at some point we are missing His voice, He will guide us back to where we should be. It might be that we have sin in our lives and are not hearing His voice. In which case we would need to repent of our sin.
There could be allot of variables as to what is going on as far as your question is concerned. But I would have to say that at some point in your relationship with Him, He is going to show you. Pray for eyes to see and ears to hear only His voice.
