View Full Version : Reflections On Calvary

I often wonder....

What would I have done when Jesus lived?

Would I have stopped just a moment to listen to the message He brought?
Would I have listened to Him long enough to know He spoke the truth?
Would I have tarried one short hour to pray for Him?
Would I have denied Him the way Simon Peter did those three times!
Would I have betrayed Him for a bag of silver coins like Judas Iscariot did?
Would I have lingered at Calvary beneath the cross on which He hung?
Had I been on that hill the day my Lord was crucified and died,
Had I been at the empty tomb that glorious, triumphant resurrection morn?

I often ponder...

What am I doing for Jesus now?

Do I persistently search and study His glorious Word?
Do I more passionately seek His unerring truth, His will for my life?
Do I live more fervently, more single-mindedly for Him each passing day?
Do I frequently tarry for loving fellowship with my Heavenly Father?
Do I stand strong, courageous in His love when strife and conflict come?
Do I strive every moment to die to self so that He can live through me?
Have I sold out my life to Him, does my life glorify Him, please Him?
Have I really come to know this Son of God, named Jesus!

Long ago, on Calvary..
.
Jesus, My Savior, laid down His life for me!
Today, here and now...

I again surrender, dedicate my life to Him!
