If anyone is interested in writing for television - or finding out how to get started - I've just done an interview with a TV writer over on my website. There are also interviews with a radio writer and short film writer.

Am I allowed to post this URL here?

If you are interested in scriptwriting, do let me know - I'm feeling a little lonely here!

Where have you been??? There's a whole forum for Screenwriting. http://christianwriters.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=88

There are a few of us here, don't know about tv writers however. Don't imagine they'd have time for anything but their jobs!! I much prefer feature writing though perhaps if I were younger I'd go for it but the hours are too much for me. TV writing has many benefits and is kinda cool though.

Thanks Dr Rita! I'll drop by the forum. I'm busy writing my first script for TV - a children's animated series. Not quite (thankfully) Eastenders! I've got a short film being made too - shooting starts this Saturday! But I'm still a beginner and need a bit of encouragement.

Wow---man I would love to do a TV Show. I just don't have any Networking on getting it started. I think it would be cool to create a TV Show.

My second idea would be to create a YouTube Production that would be posted on YouTube and on a web site. Again, I don't have the people that would be interested in doing this (as far as Casting and Filming)...but if someone out there would be interested (PM Me), I love to write scripts and you can check out and see if it's something you would want to do.

:) Sorry for hijacking the topic.

Hey Andrewboy! Glad to know there are more of us out there. You can start by joining a local filmmakers group in your area. Google "filmmakers and writers in (your location)" and see what comes up. They will most likely be a mixed bag of people, usually with some Christians mixed in. It's kinda hard at first but God gives grace . . .

Then go to the library and find a book(s) on writing for television. Even if you have some idea of how to do it, more knowledge is always good.

Then you can google the networks websites and begin looking at the job opportunities. Maybe something will pop up. Of course this may mean a move to LA . . . or not.

Making those contacts is always the challenge. Go to www.actoneprogram.com and check it out. I am enrolled in the Saturday Writing Program and they have a TV track (which I'm not doing) that goes with their programs. Act One is Christian based and a terrific family to connect with.

And of course, first and foremost pray.

Hi Andrewboy and Dr Rita. Here in the UK there are lots of structures in place to help you get into the industry - assuming you have the talent. Both the BBC and the British Film Council all work through regional umbrella bodies that provide training and workshops for people they consider have potential. You get noticed by them by sending your scripts in to their scriptreading services. If they think you've got something, you'll get invited to participate. After that, it's just a matter of working your way up, taking advantage of the breaks and, of course, praying! I'm now 'in the door' with my short film (shot this last weekend) and now have an idea for a sample TV script. Things probably work differently in the US though :)
