Could Melchisedec have been the Lord?

I don't think so. In Hebrews, Jesus was compared to him, and that wouldn't have made sense if Jesus was him.

I think it's possible that it was a Christophony (of all the options, I'd probably pick that one if you made me), but there is so little known about Melchizedek, that any interpretation is conjecture.

If he were a prenatal appearance of Jesus, he would have been called "the Angel of the Lord," but that phrase does not appear at the end of Genesis 14. Even though his parentage and lineage are not known, I'm sure he had them; being unknown doesn't mean they don't exist.

I think he was a type of Christ.

A type, yes. Not "the Angel of the Lord".

Maybe, Lookin. It's a mystery, and I'm comfortable with the uncertainty.

Hey Prof, I like your answer.
There are so many things we don't know and won't find out on this side of heaven and I think when we meet our Savior face to face, the questions won't matter that much.
I may be too simplistic ...
