For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. (Psalm 91:11 KJV)
Every night I pray, “Dear Lord surround our home with Your mighty angels. Protect our home and our hearts”. I know He hears my prayers, what a comfort to my heart.
Two nights ago we were awakened at one o’clock a.m. by what sounded like an explosion of thunder and lightning. We jumped out of bed, startled to wakefulness, and discovered our satellite TV receiver would not work. Trying to get a weather report I went to my computer only to find no dial tone for my dedicated internet line. Everything else seemed to be okay. The power did not go out and the storm seemed to pass quickly.
Thankful for the much needed rain we have been indoors for the last two days. We haven’t had TV but that is not always a bad thing. The rain stopped late yesterday afternoon and my husband went outside to check on his shop. He called to me, “Angela, you need to come see this.”
I went out the backdoor and there below our electrical meter box where the lines go into the ground it looked like an explosion had occurred. The area on the ground where the lines are buried the dirt appeared to be exploded away. Like someone had put a stick of dynamite there and lit it. There was a three foot deep hole remaining around our electrical lines. The thick PVC pipe surrounding the electrical wires was cracked.
He said, “Go call the Electricity department, we have a problem!”
I replied, “Yep” as I dialed the phone.
Joe Wheeler Electric Company arrived a few minutes later. After inspection they said lightning had hit the transformer and it would have to be replaced. The electrician in charge asked my husband if we had any problems with electricity inside the house. My husband told him about the TV receiver and the phone line.
The man said, “You people sure are blessed. I have been doing this for 30 years and I have never seen lightning stop outside a house before. I have never seen it explode into the ground instead of following the lines into the house. Usually when this happens every electrical outlet in the house is fried and all the light bulbs burst. Most of the time the house catches fire as a result. I have never seen this before”.
They replaced the transformer and the wiring. The man was still amazed when they left.
My prayer last night was full of praise and thanksgiving to God for protecting us and sending His mighty angels to deter the lightning.
Praise God for the angels He sends to keep watch day and night.
