I’m working on a web-site right now for fun… don’t know if I’ll go through with it yet. Anyway I’m putting together a site that would display people’s writing in an organized manner. People from here could submit something to me that they would like to shear and I would place it on the site.

The site would be something like a promotion for Christian writers. Can’t think of a good domain name yet… it’s not a store, but you can read there? Hum. Well I would want to place links from it to related material. Let’s say I post your poem, then you have a site with your poems, blog, maybe a place to buy your work, I would want to link to that.

Any domain name ideas? Also, here is the list of what I got so far to display on the front page.

Fantasy
Sci-fi
Horror
Historical
Western
Poems
Nonfiction
Stage & Screen

I've been messing around at www.godaddy.com and so far a lot of name ideas are taken. I readusfree.com is free though. That may be easy enough to tell people to just go to.

From what I've seen, Namecheap.com (http://Namecheap.com) has the best prices on domain names. You might want to compare before purchase. ;)

Oh really?! That's a new one to me. I'll have to check that out. Thanks much!

You're welcome. :) I just checked, and it looks like godaddy charges $9.99, while namecheap charges $9.29. Not a huge savings, but it's something.

I use namecheap, and have always been very happy with them.

Well aside from names, what do you think of my idea? I've been messing with the idea for years, but something always seems to get in the way.

Well... I have something similar in the works, although it's not limited to Christian writers. The site I'm working on has novel excerpts, short stories, and articles. It's a tie-in for CW, plus a ABA-related site I'm working on.

From the research I've done, story sites aren't uncommon. If you found a niche, however--such as making it just for Christians--I think you might have something. Also, I haven't seen the ability to purchase additional work (and the other features you mentioned) before. From what I've seen, that's unique. ;)

Well I haven't seen something that promotes Christian work only. Hm. Well I'm just thinking about it, for now i'm working on redoing Merry's site. I'll post when it's done because I want openions.
