Has anyone heard about ultraportable laptops or UMPCs like MSI Wind or EeePc? Both the MSI Wind and the Asus EEE 901 are expected to come out June 3rd, with various specs ranging from $400 to possibly $600.
Anybody interested?
P.S. So far, I'm planning on getting the MSI Wind.

I just saw a second vote besides mine. So who else is getting the MSI Wind? Not a whole lot of people know about this.

I've been eying the ASUS EEE. It seems to be the least expensive of the lot.

Do you mean the 7 inch screen or the 8.9 inch one?

I was thinking about the 7 in. one. I don't think the size of the keyboard would be a problem. I'm 6 ft tall, but have freakishly small hands. My 12-year-old daughter's hand's are about as big as mine are now.

Yeah the 7 inch is only $400 but the MSI Wind has a 10 inch one for $400, with Linux, 3 cell battery (which is about the same battery life as on a EeePC), and 512 RAM (equivalent ram to EeePC) 80 gig hard drive (vs 4g SSD). So basically for same price you would get 76g more space, and a much bigger screen. But SSDs could be better for ruggedness, and some people think 10 inch would be too big.

I wish I could actually try one (any one) before I buy. I have only seen the UMPCs on line, never in a brick and mortar store.
I like the idea of having something tiny that I could pull out and use for writing at any time.
But still, I have little idea how a 7-in. screen would work as opposed to a 10-in. screen. Would 7 be too small? Would 10 be too bulky?
I'd like to find out before shelling out some hard earned bucks. $400 is cheap in terms of laptops. But still, that's a lot of money.

Yeah. I've seen pics and videos, and tried to make estimates of the size. But from what I've read on the internet most people feel that a 7 inch screen is way too small for a laptop. Maybe 10 inch is too small too I'm not sure. I wish I could see these in person too.

Wouldn't Circuit City or Best Buy have them in their store?

I think Best Buy sells an XP version of the 7 inch Asus Eeepc but I'm not sure. The UMPCs sell mostly on online stores, like Amazon or NewEgg or some other site.

The Best Buy in my town doesn't carry it. And we don't have a Circuit city

Yeah I don't think a lot of Best Buys carry them. They might not anymore. I've never seen any.

In case some people are interested, here is a link:

Apparently, the Wind will be released on June 16th for $499 for XP which is cheaper than previously thought. The $399 Linux version is supposed to come later.
