The documentary `The Third Wave' by Australian Christian director, Alison Thompson, as been selected by Cannes Jury President, Sean Penn, to be the inaugural Jury President's Screening for Cannes 2008.`The Third Wave' follows Ms Thompson, other volunteers and villagers working together to rebuild the village of Peraliya, Sri Lanka, devastated by the tsunami.

Sean Penn says of the film, "The Third Wave is truly a must-see for ourselves, our children and everyone we know, for anyone who has two good legs and a dollar in their pocket. It inspires the very best in us, just when we need that most. It comes as close to answering our purpose in life as any film in recent memory.'

Alison Thompson was born in Sydney and is the daughter of evangelical artist, Keith Thompson. Alison studied at NYU Film School and, a former medic, was a volunteer at The World Trade Centre in the wake of 9/11. She has just shot her sequel to `The Third Wave', `The Dirty Hands Caravan' – following Sean Penn and 150 activist volunteers on their road trip from Indio, CA to New Orleans in 3 bio-fuel buses, raising the profile of volunteering.

Alison will be attending Cannes from 14th-25th May and would appreciate prayer for her time there, especially for health and energy, as she has just finished shooting `The Dirty Hands Caravan'.
