Just thought I'd post a note in case Jacks or someone starts thinking I've gone AWOL...
My computer decided to half-die on us yesterday, so I'm only able to check CW at work (can't even check my e-mail --).
I'm going to try to get a new computer today (it's time to get a 2nd one in the house anyway) then fix the old one (one of the computer guru's in my family told me what to do, and it's not that difficult, just time consuming and requires a 2nd machine) so hubby has a computer too. (Could be handy for him when he's on the road!)
Anyway, I'm actually supposed to be sewing a lot this week, so even if I get the 2nd machine, I may be somewhat AWOL this week. I've got to get a bridesmaid dress done. Ah, well, hubby's back and sort-of in town all week, so I'm much calmer today.

I know the feeling with a pc half dead on you. I just had to buy a new one not three months ago. Hang in there.

Got the computer, having the Geek Squad attempt a data transfer. Hopefully, it'll be ready by this evening when I go home. I don't have THAT much stuff to transfer.
Still got loads of sewing to do. *sigh*

With a pc down, you’ll have some more free time I guess. Every time I see your avy I remember my mom. She dressed up like that for a wal-mart thing one year.

Rats. :( Geek Squad called, can't get data off. :( Thank the Lord I have a flash drive that was last updated Friday. I can't think of any MAJOR work I did on Saturday, so I may not have lost that much, just photos and music, the photos (again, thank the Lord) I have backed up on my original cards as well as on Flickr. I may be able to recover some of my music from iTunes, but a lot of it I'd pulled from CD's, so I'm not in that bad of shape. Maybe. Lost some of hubby's data (we'll have to rescan his boat manual--I tried to get him to organize it so I could back it up, but it never happened. *sigh*)

After being in my Best Buy store 3 times today, I at least have all my data from Friday back. :) The important stuff.
Here's something I'm going to telling people though that may help you in the future. If you use a flash drive to back up your work, and you use the Sync feature that may have come with it, DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT keep using it! What it does is compresses your files into a format that's not completely recognizable as your files if you have to move it onto a different computer that doesn't have the software installed (I ran into this when I tried to switch computers BEFORE all this stuff happened.) The Geek Squad recommends actually FORMATTING your flash drive and moving all the data you want onto the flash manually. It's more time consuming, but in the long run, you don't do what I did--standing in the Best Buy store, arguing with the geeks that yes, your data IS there, it was password protected, and there's no way it just disappeared. (BTW, we finally figured out the problem, but it took all three of us--the two geeks and me--to get to the bottom of it. I refused to leave until I had what I came for.)
Oh, and it seems my old machine has gone the way of the Wicked Witch of the West... :( I had such hopes for it, but I'm still hoping for a resurrection. I'll just have to talk to my personal geeks (my cousin's fiance and/or brother) to do it.

Liberty,
I'm sorry that does not sound like fun! I know what it's like to have a computer go completely DEAD on you..so I'm glad you didn't lose everything. I had to rewrite an entire novel one time..what a task!
Blessings!
