We can't seem to keep a sport thread open for very long. Count this one as a every and all sports thread.
We can move from one sport to another but keep this open as long as we can LOL. For information on great sporting events you think someone just won't want to miss.
We will see if we have any sports fans on here or not... LOL
I watched Jr get pushed out of the way last night. I wasn't pleased with who won but it was an exciting ending.
Well here we go. what is your fav sport.
I like tennis... Nascar, pro football, and Kentucky Basketball.

I like Baseball, volleyball, rugby, hockey, and *gulp* football.
I'm from Colorado, so my team is (baseball) Rockies, (football) Bronco's, and (hockey) Avalanche. Unfortunately The Rockies didn't make it to the finals this year. But they came very close and we are proud of our all-Christian team!
I love rugby but have only watched the "All Blacks" play. They are amazing, and I've heard some of the other rugby fans on here say that they are the best, is that true? I love rugby what a Sport!

No nascar race this weekend i guess they took Mothers day off.
ProfessorAlan
05-11-2008, 06:14 PM
Well they take Mother's Day itself off, but not the whole wekeend -- the Cup cars raced last night in Darlington: 1. Ky Busch, 2. Edwards, 3. Gordon, 4. Junior, and 5. D Ragan.

This race I didn't miss. The Winston was on tonight. yes yes I know it has some new gobble te goop name that i hate. if they hadn't put the All Star Race after it I wouldn't have even know what it was.
To me it will always be the Winston. I'm so tired of them changing the names around.
That is my 2 cents.

i have two events to share.
The Coco cola 600 should be on this weekend. Coverage starts at 5:00 on WVAH fox in my area. I have been to this race twice and it's a great race to watch live or on TV.
Also the French open is starting and those with Direct TV and the right package can check out the 700's they are going to have several channels dedicated to different matches.

Sunday it's auto racing all day: Indy 500 at noon, then the NASCAR race JG mentioned.

I've never had much to do with Nascar and racing, but I do remember when the great Dale Earnhart died. I kept the newspaper article, and I remember liking him because he's a Christian. Do ya'll know if his son is?
ProfessorAlan
05-25-2008, 06:05 PM
A lot of NASCAR has a "christian culture" about it, but I don't know who are personally believers.

05-26-2008, 12:48 AM
I don't know if Jr is a Christian or not. i pray all the time that they will find the Lord. I think Jr is young and may be a little wild at times. But I hope that soon he will settle down and find a regular place for the Lord in his life. I could be wrong and he could be a devout Christian.
I am happy he has a new sponsor. it was a very good race today interesting ending with the wrecks and splash and goes.

Yeah, fun race, especailly since the fuel situation helped the 24 car end up in the Top 5, where he did not deserve to be!

Jumping in here...
I like football (Go CHIEFS!!!!), baseball to a degree, racing when hubby's not around (he likes 1/4 mile, I like the long races), golf, and some basketball (more college than pro.)
I wanted to watch the Indy 500 this weekend, and was in and out, and kind of forgot about it (saw a few laps.) I REALLY would have liked to see Dannika Patrick hit that other guy that cut her off and damaged her car--I only got to read about it in the paper the next day--but sadly, the security guard prevented her.
I'm currently waiting for the NFL preseason to start. I just got the NFL Network, so I'm WAY excited for the season to start so I can watch more of the games, much to hubby's chagrin. :D

Can't wait to see nadal and roger go at it.
ProfessorAlan
06-08-2008, 12:11 PM
Well, Ivanovic has been close before, so it's not a huge surprise.
But NADAL. Wow, that was utter domination, one of the most impressive displays I've ever seen of one top athlete totally dismantling another top athlete. It was not even close. It was not even close to being close.

So, umm, why don't we have a Euro 2008 thread up yet?
Portugal streamrolled Turkey... Czech Republic steamrolled Switzerland...
Actually, in Turkey's case, steamrolled might be a bit extreme.
Anyone got bets on who takes it? What about Germany, Poland, Austria and Czroatia? Four countries that veritably hate each other's GUTS! Should be a fun outing today, don't we all think?

I am puilling for Croatia on the grounds that their checkerboard pattern and shield are eerily reminiscent of my college alma mater's symbol. I believe I recall reading somewhere that there is actually a connection between the two.
Ransom v. Unman

Well, Croatia won, 1-0.
Podolski just scored for Germany against the Poles... ironic, as he was born in Poland.

i am not a huge sports fan, as a child my dad was and still is sports mad, so i was made to watch it.
I will watch a little AFL, but usually just becasue hubby is. don't mind a bit of soccer, cricket, but only on rare occasions. i will watch the olympics, most sports.
The only thing i really like to watch is NRL State of Origin. I don't even watch the regular NRL matches.
So Go the BLUES

...
What's NRL?
ProfessorAlan
06-09-2008, 03:03 PM
Google Ads thinks NRL relates to rugby, and they're usually right.
NRL = National Rugby League.
For those unitiated there is a difference between Union and League even though they both have Rugby before the name.
It drives me crazy that people think i follow Rugby and they are talking about Union (i don't know the rules there)

And this is still further distinct from Austrailian Rules Football?
...
All the same, Fabregas and Spain go up against the Russkies today, and I'm hoping for another Northern country to upset another Mediterranean country today in the Sweden v. Greece match, but Sweden hasn't ever been as strong as the Netherlands have been. I suppose we'll see...

yes there is a difference between NRL and Aussie rules (or AFL).
I know the rules for these two, but i was born and bred in NRL territory. I can't lose my heritage.

Yes! Wasn't that something?! Golf and baseball (Cardinals) are my games. I have to admit though that the Euro2008 is getting a hook into me :).
Tiger should not have played against Dr's orders... now they say he's possibly out for a year with another surgery. There's not a golfer better than Tiger, this is true but I do get tired of seeing him pumping his fist all the time.
I also heard that Anika is going to retire!
