Throughout the month of May we'll be voting on our next book club selection. Please cast your vote for the book you'd like the group to focus on during June and July. Voting will be open until May 31.
BTW, I included only the first of Brandilyn Collin's and John L. Robinson's books, since all of their suggested books are part of one series. The first of Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot mysteries wasn't on our list, so I went ahead and included all her suggested titles. However, if everyone could please keep in mind, when they suggest titles for the Running List (http://christianwriters.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14852), that we're trying to avoid series (since we won't be able to follow all the books together as a group). If you feel that an author or a particular book in a series is absolutely worth our attention as a solo piece, then please list only the first book in the series and please note that is part of a series. People who might wish to start at the beginning of a series probably won't appreciate being dumped unawares into the second or third book. Obviously, this "rule" is flexible, but please keep it in mind when suggesting titles.

Just FYI, my first Joe Box novel, Until the Last Dog Dies, is OOP (which means out of print, although saying the acronym out loud is kinda fun! :D). That means it'll be well nigh impossible to find in stores, so ya'll might want to pick another book, one that's still shelved. But for those so inclined, Amazon is selling new copies of Dog for a penny (which is astoundingly cheap) and shipping is four bucks.
Choose wisely, grasshopper.
We now return you to your regular thread, already in progress...

I'm voting for Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie since I've never read any of her books but am pretty sure I've seen films of the others there - which means I know the ending. ::sigh::

Since I've already read Violet Dawn, that is what I voted for. I would read it again though.

Hotel Paradise it's available at my library, so I picked it. I'm cheap, I know. :D

I'm surprised your library didn't have the Agatha Christie's...
I voted earlier for Violet Dawn... I've read it once before, and would LOVE to read it again. :) (They actually have some of Brandilyn's work at my library . :p)

I voted for John L. Robinson's Before the Last Dog Diesbefore I saw his note here, but I would still like to read it. The last two voices we heard were women; I just thought we might want to mix it up. Also the premise as described on Amazon sounded good to me, I just hope the descriptions of the deaths are not too gory. I am getting tender hearted in my old age. Elaine

They're not too gory, Elaine. Especially considering they're bad guys. Just consider it...divine retribution. :D

Isn't that what we do with all our bad guys as mystery writers, John? :D

John, I did order your book on Amazon; how could I pass it up at those prices? Wish you got a cut. I am not afraid of divine retribution for a villain, one of mine got it and the other will get it belatedly (in God's good timing) in the next book. Elaine

Does anybody even write stand-alone mysteries these days?

Yes, though I can't think of them off hand... I typically read series.
Sandra Brown's written a few good ones, though they'd be more along the lines of Romantic Suspense, heavy on the suspense.
A lot of the good series, though, you can take any book out of the series and not be lost.

That's what I hope I've done with mine. Hope being the operative word...:D

I'm new here. Are we suppose to read the book before June? I chose Violet Dawn. :)

No, the poll will stay open until the end of May. Whichever book has the most votes at that point will be the one the group will read during the first two weeks of June. Official discussion opens on the 15th. You can read more about the group's guidelines here (http://christianwriters.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15084). :)
