From Jeff, at Marcher Lord Press. I don't normally take part in a lot of boycotts, but there's something here, I think.

Greetings, friend of Marcher Lord Press.

I haven't sent out an update in a while but things are going very well at Marcher Lord Press.

The cover for "The Personifid Invasion" is mostly done and the cover for "Hero, Second Class" should be done in early May. Keep watching the site for them to magically appear...

Lots of other developments, too. Including that fact that I'm already in the acquisitions process for list #2. Gotta get those babies in the pipeline.

The reason for this message is to ask you to consider a one-day boycott of Amazon.com.

On May 1, please consider not purchasing from Amazon. Here's why.

Amazon is trying to put a squeeze on competitors in the print-on-demand (POD) industry. They're saying that any POD book not published through their POD company (BookSurge) cannot be sold on Amazon. I'm planning to use one of their main competitors, LightningSource, to print Marcher Lord Press books--and I need them to be sold through Amazon--so this directly affects me. And you.

Here's an article that talks about the United States Authors' Guild and others who are calling for this one-day boycott: http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100967.

If you were thinking of purchasing something from Amazon on the 1st, please consider holding off until the 2nd.

Thank you! Let's help send the message that they can't step on the little guy.

Jeff

No problem for me I have never bought anything from them. I prefer EBAY.

I'll join in LOL... and continue not buying from them.

I am a fan of the right to boycott, and appreciate economic boycotts. This one ... I am 50-50 on, but am planning on going to B&N tomorrow to buy some books, so I guess I participated.

I’ve bought books there before for my wife, and three CDs for me. I don’t see me buying anything from them for a time still.

A couple of things you might be interested to hear. BookLocker is bringing an anti-trust lawsuit against amazon.com:

You can read the complaint here:

Glad to hear that, Tommie.

Ever since news broke about Amazon trying to strongarm POD publishing, I've shopped and linked to Barnes & Noble or Christian Book Distributors. I don't even like the fact that my blog software automatically links to them any more.

I hope that suit goes through. !thumbsup!

Isn't it funny there are amazon.com ads on the top of the page?
