I was wondering which free service provides good photo sharing. I have bunches I'd like to share with family around the country and figured that's the easiest way. They can print what they like.

I've signed up with photobucket.com just because it was the one I heard about most often. I've never used it. If you google photo sharing, the first one listed is dropshots.com. There are so many. I don't know anything about them. So I'm sorry I'm not much help.

I have heard of photo bucket and will check them out.

I can upload my photos via .mac and make them available to non-MAC users but since I'm still in the early learning stages of my MAC, I decided to go with something simpler for the time being.

Thanks, Lynn

There is another way. That is to use a P2P system that is private like Hamachi. That way only you and the people you personally know can access a shearing folder on your pc. Then they can get the exact files from you that they wish to have. It even has a chatting program if you wish to use it that is built into the program.

Flickr.com :) It's a great sight for photo sharing, and it's free unless you want a premium account.

I use Flickr.com as well. The only problem (for me) is the fact I did have to upgrade to a Pro Account because there's a limit of 200 pictures (I think) for a free account. But, I think it's like $24 or $25 for 2 years of a pro account, which when I did the math, is like $2 a month, which I didn't think was that expensive. Plus, I'm SO relieved I did the Pro Account since my computer died--almost all my pictures were on the computer, so now I don't have to go through the tedium of redownloading the pics to my new computer from the SD card. :)

Yes, it's a fair deal. Plus there are so many groups on flickr which is really nice. :) Also if you don't have a pro account, and you go over your limit, it just stores the other photos that are older. Then when you do upgrade they reappear. :)

That's true... I didn't upgrade until I had probably over 300 on my site. It was nice to see the older pics back!

Flickr, BTW, is a part of Yahoo. They used to have Yahoo Photos, but it wasn't nearly as popular as their Flickr site, and didn't have some of the capabilities that Flickr does, so sometime in the last year or two, they gave all their Yahoo Photos subscribers (of which I was one) the option to switch over to Flickr, as well as a couple other sites not owned by Yahoo. They migrated all the Yahoo users' photos to Flickr that chose to go. (which is why if you look through my site, you may find duplicate photos in there. :D)

Sharing photos with family was my main reason for getting on Facebook. You can upload pictures into albums and then just send the link to the album to anyone you want to share the photo's with and they don't have to have Facebook to see them.. (whew, talk about your run on sentences!). I like it too because I can put captions on them...
