We'll as I told my husband this morning i think the only thing Obama did wrong was to deny his pastor. He should have said you need to go to church with the man before you judge him. This man seems to have his head on straight, he seems to understand what God's Word means.

I'm sure some of you might disagree i just wish everyone could watch this show and see what he has to say. it's very interesting and my opinion is it's easy to take a few small sound bites and turn them into something they are not.

Has anyone else watched this show with Bill Moyers Journal. If not you should take an hour and listen to the man and see what you think about him. I'm not saying he's perfect, I'm just saying I think he's being mis judged and that it's not right.

What do you all think.

The pastor comes from a perspective that is not mine, but that does not mean that some of the things he says do not have some validity. {but a few things are pretty out there, too ... }

One of the things he mentioned I've agreed with him for years. That is that we had no right to come to this country and push the Indians onto reservations, to bring men and women here and make slaves out of them. I won't be able to say it as well as he did but some of it makes sense.

no one is perfect but i know his words are taken out of context since I heard more of the sermons.

I'm sorry but I think the guy is nuts! You can listen to some of his sermons here: http://www.townhall.com/talkradio/
Jeremiah Wright is not acquitted, or justified, in any manner. In fact, it makes things worse in my mind. It also shows that he's got bad theology. After September 11th he preached on Psalm 137's last three verses:
137:7 Remember, O Lord, what the Edomites did
on the day Jerusalem fell.
They said, “Tear it down, tear it down,
right to its very foundation!”
137:8 O daughter Babylon, soon to be devastated!
How blessed will be the one who repays you
for what you dished out to us!
137:9 How blessed will be the one who grabs your babies
and smashes them on a rock! It's disconcerting that he believes these verses can be somehow applied to the U.S.A. In Wright's mind, we are Edomites and Babylonians.

He wants to hide behind what he said to Bill Moyers, but it's just not true. I ain't buying it.

I also believe his theology is Black Liberation. It seems to me that he wants to live in the past. Seems pretty racist, especially if you do a bit of research of what his "mentor" Cone says... http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=59230

Maybe I've said too much of what I think already...

I will have to respectively disagree with you on the one sermon. I listened to about 10 minutes of his sermon after 911 i can't say much about the others. and i can see his point and even agree with some things. I won't say that we deserved getting bombed because of our past treatment but i agree that many things that is in our history is not right. i can see his point that some past sins of the united states may be sneaking in on us and may be a few chickens are coming home to roost.

I'm not trying to argue here be sure and understand that. We all can see this through our own eyes. I just see his point, that the united states as a people have done many cruel and mean things to other countries and people.

There is not and never has been a greater country than the USA. The good we have done "as a people" is a list that has no end. We have some mistakes in our history, who can deny it. They do not come close to nullifying our good. I think he is a bitter, anti-american muck raker with a big big chip on his shoulder (it's not name calling if it's true). Our country, even in it's current decline is still better than any place in the world. He is delusional due to his theology. His rhetoric causes division. The church is to be united!

I luv ya Jacks. No hard feelings now... ;). Like you, I respectfully disagree.

That's not the standard God uses to judge us, though, is it?

No hard feelings. We all have to disagree now and then.

There is one theory that the end time political Babylon that is destroyed in Revelation is America. And we fit the description better than most theories. That is probably the theology behind his statements.

I’m glad I don’t have to be apart of this whole argument. I’m from many different tribes of people and could easily side with any of them. However, I’m hoping this entire racist and who owes whom what dies out in the next generations. I grew up without such nonsense in my life, when I was exposed to it I thought it was childish and still do.

Well it seems that Revered Wright wants to get his 15 minutes of fame. He is out there and I still agree with some things he says but others makes me laugh a little. I think he got his toes stepped on and now he's mad at Obama.

I have to be like the news men though when they say that Obama went to church wit this guy for 20 years and he is just learning that he's a little on the fringe...
