Hey tell me what do you think about this latest news. Some Potter Fan has written a book about all the Characters in the series or the like. Some kind of Dictionary. Now the lady that wrote harry potter is taking him to court.

They are going to take this to court. is this a copy write infringement. Is this a work of his own but just using her characters. What do you all think. I'm no Harry Potter fan but this is interesting. I would more than likely be a fan but I've seen the previews and I don't like some of the ugly things they show. That aside lets get at it.

What would you think if you wrote a book had lots of Characters in it then you had someone come along, write a book explaining all of your Characters. I personally think I wouldn't like it at all.

It would depend on the book, of course. But I tend to think I'd be picking my jaw up the floor in astonishment at the thought that someone would actually care enough about my characters to write a fan book. I'd be very, very flattered. :)

I hear that she was flattered as long as we was only doing it on line. Or may be it's a she that is trying to write this book, not sure. But I can understand that may be this is not right. I agree too with you Tarin. I would be flattered. Also if I had 4 billion in the bank all ready. I would hope that I would be willing to go to the person.

Work out an agreement with them and publish the book.

LOL you did. I had not clue who that was. don't know the authors name.

Oh well. I even looked through the threads and missed it.

As I said in the other thread, I have no problem whatsoever about an author fighting to protect their copyrighted work ..... though she may be going a step too far here, I defend her right to do it.

She may make other fans angry. I wonder if she should have considered this before taking the fan to court.
