Thanks to some free plane tickets my husband received, we are going to be heading to Orlando in June to see a rocket launch at the Space Center and visit Disneyworld. We've never been to Florida.

Any Floridians here that could tell us what to expect in June? I keep reading the hurricane season predictions and am getting nervous. We initially scheduled our trip for May to beat that season, but then when we found out about Star Wars weekends, we rescheduled for June.

We may really feel the force I guess.

Expect really, really long lines at Disneyworld, that's one thing I've heard for sure...

When my family went to Orlando, we always went in Winter when hotels were discounted and lines were short. :D

Star Wars weekends

Star Wars weekends? Uh! I wanna go! Can I hide in your luggage? The baby and I won't take up that much room, I promise!

That's OK, she can bring a book to read while waiting in line. :D

I think the winter is when I would go as well.

Frankly, if it were my call, we would've gone just about anywhere besides Orlando, but my family is... well, the ones with the money and decision-making power in it at least... Umm...

Cyrumgirl, If you will send me a PM or email, I'll have my daughter fill you in with all the info you need. She and her hubby are avid Disney goers, at all times of the year. They are even moving to FL, and for one reason, to be near DisneyWorld. I know you will have a marvelous time. Just go with a patient attitude and you'll love it!

Hey be sure and hang around at Disney World and watch the eletrice parade and fireworks. I loved it we sat and watched in amazement.

The place is huge and so much to do. Plan ahead be ready to walk a lot spend lots of money and have fun.

Yea you might want some sunglasses don't carry much in with you, suntan lotion and bug spray for night time.

Jacks is right. The electric light parade is the very best part! If you take kids that are fairly young, be sure to stop and take a nap in the afternoon. Then you can stay for the later park hours.

Bug spray?? Eeep!

We are intending to do the good walking shoe shopping already. I've been to Disneyland so I have a little taste for the line lengths at least. My daughter is too little to go on the bigger rides and I seem to remember the kiddie rides having shorter lines so we'll see.

I'm really excited about getting her (and hubby and I) to a space launch. So far, she actually seems unusually determined for a four year old that space travel is her destiny. I hope she's encouraged by seeing the place where it all happens. It will also be her first conscious look at the ocean. As small as I was, I remember my first view of that vast sight. I can't wait for her to have that same experience.

We happened to be in FL to see one of the early shuttle launches, like 25+ years ago. Cool!
