When reading out loud during my group Bible studies I find it difficult to pronounce the names that are in the Bible. I don't have this problem when reading silently to myself because I can just skim over the names and say to myself "oh that guy or place". But I would really like to be able to pronounce them correctly. Anyone have any ideas on how I can go about learning how to properly pronounce them?

Oh, Meilssa! I just found the perfect thing. Here's the link...

http://www.briannelsonconsulting.com/bible/pronunciation.html

This site gives an audio pronunciation of names, etc. After you click on the section of the alphabet you need, scroll down for the list of names. When you click on the name, it will pronounce the name for you. I don't know if all the names are listed but it's certainly a start. I'm bookmarking this for myself. Glad you asked!

Wonderful! Thank you Lynn. I'll be bookmarking it myself. :)

Anyone else have any tips?

My Bible marks the pronunciation of every name. Very handy. :) It's a KJV Personal Reference Bible, published by Broadman and Holman.

Hmmm.... I'll have to look into that. Thanks Tarin. Although I'm not sure hubby is going to want another Bible around. Not because he has anything against it but because we have quite a few as it is and few places to put them. We are running out of shelf space. Is there such a thing as having to many books?

Many Bibles that don't have self-pronouncing text have a pronunciation key, usually in the front pages. But not all of them do.
