After the way God broke the bondage of fear that had me chained up for years last week as a direct result of my involvement with VBS, I decided to email the children's pastor at my church and let him know what a wonderful think God had done and how appreciative I was of him (Pastor Steve) for getting me involved in VBS. He sent me a really nice email, and here's part of it I wanted to share with everyone here:
Its amazing how so many go into [helping in children's ministry] thinking "well, this will be great for the kids." Yet, the Bible says that if we minister to the least of these (meaning children) its the same as ministering to Jesus Himself. And when we minister . . . when we bless . . . when we worship Jesus with our sacrificial service to children He promises to give a greater blessing. And it would seem that you and many others are beginning to experience some of that blessing already. Praise God!
I know that Dr. D has devoted much of his life to teaching teens and helping them come to a saving knowledge of God. Because children's ministry is such a powerful force in this world, the devil has decided to attack Dr. D and pull him away from us. But, I believe, it will only be for a little while. One who blesses the least surely has the favor and the protection of Christ.
Oh, and once again, if anyone reading this has a chance to work with kids in ministry, please do. God can change your life through them.
