I really want to get into a rhythem of worshiping God at home, on my own, pressing into the throneroom without relying on the annointing of another. I don't know if that makes sense to many of you, but the desire arose this weekend at a men's conference when the speaker made reference to the fact that so many Christians come to church, raise their hands, and enter the courts of God on the annointing of the preacher, the praise and worship leader, and the prayer warriers who paved the way.

Now, I admit, this is a bit of a Pentecostal/Charasmastic way of looking at worship, but I can feel it when I'm in that place with God. You can't help but not feel it. I'm not saying that I base my relationship with God on feelings, please don't misunderstand me, but I've always felt it when I've broken through to God.

I'm starting today with some praise and worship music and an open heart. I ask for your prayers, but also for some suggestions for making this private time with God more effective. I just want to give thanks to God, I just want to get into the mindset of praise and adoration and develop a greatful spirit and one that draws others to Christ. I'm not there at all, I'm not sure I ever have been, but that's where I want to be. That's where I need to be. Not only as a writer, but as a person.

If nothing else, I'm posting this as a reminder to myself of where I need to be with Jesus.

Think of your relationship with God as a marriage.

There are times when you have to "do stuff"...house repairs, yard work, etc. (ministry)

There are times when you have to talk about the kids (intercession)

There are times when you sit and debate and discuss and learn (Bible study)

There are times when you just have fun together and celebrate the relationship (praise and worship)

And there are time of "intimacy" (private devotions...a time so personal that you can barely discuss it with anyone...when you and God move and flow in unbelievable oneness)

Hope that helps :)

I'm currently reading a book focusing on private worship. It's called Worship--A Way of Life by Patrick Kavanaugh (I think I spelled his name right.) I think you would find it very helpful--I have.
