Transition, a word that means change, but has so very many ways of showing that. As a woman who has had children, the most evident is that of the time right before a child is born. It is intense. Violent (to a degree) and life altering for you and the child.
Transition is any time when you are in-between, which is often a difficult place to live. Whether it is transitioning from raising children to being an empty-nester; a job change, location change, marriage status change, or even a life and death issue. It is a troubling, confusing emotion-filled time in life.
We, my husband and I are in transition concerning job and location. My husband is an associate pastor and we are in the process of installing a new senior pastor. He is a great guy and a godly man, just different. So many things are simply up in the air right now.
I find I must think though, in this season of Easter - Resurrection Sunday, that Jesus has already conquered transition. This gives me hope and peace. First, Jesus made the extreme transition of living with God in the complete sense. He transitioned to live among us - that is huge!. Then after those three years, He made the next transition - to experience death. I am sure He was confident of what was going to happen. He knew the big picture. Yet, He did have His time in the Garden.
I am soooo glad I know the "rest of the story". His victory is our victory. He has shown us the way to survive transition. It is, of course, running into the heart of God and staying there. Blessed Resurrection Sunday all. Diedre
