Aww.... so touched, thanks TW, you're a great friend. and what you said, is probably true.

Are you going to tell us... or are we waiting for some sci-fi people to get on here? lol

I'm going to prayer meeting. If no one has gotten it tonight I will give the answer (if I remember), otherwise in the morning.

Timber Wolf

OK - Nobody gave it a shot.

My sig line is a quote from "V: The mini series"

What writing goals did you have for the year? Did you meet any of them?
What goals do you have for the rest of the year?

What writing goals did you have for the year? Did you meet any of them?
What goals do you have for hte rest of the year?

Get an agent. No, I haven't met that one. :( For the rest of the year, I'm going to try to learn to juggle my schedule between my new "job" as a real estate investor (hubby & I are trying to get up and running again so I can work at home), being a new mom in a couple months, and writing. Hubby thinks I need to drop writing, but I don't think he understands how integral it is to who I am. I've been a writer for 12 years or more--even have a J-school degree!--and I can't stop.

........................

What is one thing you wish people understood about you that you think no one does?

MsDee
07-29-2008, 03:20 PM
That what comes out of my mouth should not be a reflection of who I am because I am a better writet than speaker/talker and also that they understand my sense of humor which is dry.

Dont count my post as brilliant writing LOL

How often do you write and for how long?

Thebigguy
07-29-2008, 03:24 PM
My childhood was pretty rough and sometimes people think my working through stuff is rediculous and I need to just get over it. I don't think that there is a magic pill that will "fix" me however, I think I do need to let go of myself pity it really is ugly.

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?

Thebigguy
07-29-2008, 03:28 PM
Whoops!I'm afraid Dee got in there before me! I write a couple paragraphs at this point and sometimes a page. right now it's drawing a map and making up the history of my world not so much plot at this point I have to have and backround and history before I can flesh out the Characters and plot more.
And I like omlets for breakfast especially with smoked Gouda or sharp chedder cheese , maybe with some Choriso or broccoli or something.

Thebigguy
07-29-2008, 03:29 PM
Whoops again! Ok what is your colors, uh ... fall, spring, summer, winter...
If your a guy what uh is your favorite movie?

Rachel E.
07-29-2008, 04:50 PM
I'm a girl and my color's are winter. Blues black, white, pink, red, yes... hot colors.
Favorite movie is probably Pride and Prejudice (A&E) or Ben-Hur

How do you feel about swear words in your writing?

How do you feel about swear words in your writing?

I'm cool with it as long as it's in character for the characters I'm dealing with. Certain ones swear, some don't, some only do when they're really aggravated or angry. Of course, I seem to be in the minority whenever we have the question go 'round in the forums here...

What's your favorite genre of movie?

Timber Wolf

uhhhhh, "guy movies" (is that a genre?) :D

what hair style do you have?

Would that be 'action'????

Hair = long, basically unkempt. I try to trim it when it gets bad. Don't think that's a style, other than the frazzled, halfway Einstein look I have.

movie genre question again. :D

melw

Give me a movie i may cry in either from emotions or laughter, andi will have enjoyed that. That is my main criteria. But dont' ask me for war movies

Old "B" SCIFI are great - what's MSt3K?

Lost - Everyone tells nme to get lost. :D Don't watch the show. If they don't use the BIble in an irreverant way then I don't have a pblm w/ it.

I'm feeling lazy this AM, so same question.

MST3K is Mystery Science Thetare three thousand. Its ashow where a man who is stuck in space and his three robot friends are forced to watch B movies by an evil professor.

The audiences watches the characters watch the movie and they diss/comment /make fun of the entire movie from begin to end and its funny stuff.

If I can find a clip I'll post it

Lost does not use the Bible irreverently, so far ...it hasnt if it does they lose a big fan

Since it doesn't seem we have any other active question, I'll ask this question:

Do you have a cell phone? If so, what ringer is the one that plays the most on your phone? (I have groups so one group of people has one ringer, another has something different, etc.)

MEL

Hmmm.... probably my cell phone. I do 90% of my calling with it, run my business with it, etc. I'm not at home a lot, and if I forget my cell at home I feel naked without it.

Same question.

Apart from computers? NO TECHNOLOGY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MY COMPUTER!!!!! LOL!!!

I'd have to say my hearing aids, the FM system, closed captioning...

Cell phone? Not so much. Not until webcaptel works on one I can afford. Once that happens, my cell phone will become 2nd place to my computer in the realm of technology.

Timber Wolf
07-31-2008, 01:42 AM

<AHEM> Sorry, wrong forum. There was no question-

Do you wear any kind of "rememberance" bracelet? (MIA/POW, or the newer rubber ones that sprang off of the original cancer bracelets, WWJD, etc.) If so, do you want to say what it is for?

Russ~Anna Lee
07-31-2008, 01:58 AM
When I first became a Christian 34 yrs ago I wore a leather band that said Jesus on it I wore it for years...I did wear a yellow Lance Armstrong Livestrong until it broke...If I had the Jesus band again I would still wear it....
PS I had a POW bracelet but I am allergic to medal so I had to stop wearing it...

I am new to this thread so I am not sure what and what has not be asked so forgive me if I duplicate...
If you could interview any author dead or alive who would it be and why?

G'day Mel I believe you were suppose to leave me a question. Shall I go ahead and do that alrighty. What was the first movie you ever saw? The Recuers I think I was four or was that three it was scary I didn't like the skull it was too scary for me but I think I tried not to put up a fuss cause I didn't want them to take me out of the theatre. Brutus and the other Alegater were really scared me too.
I thought they might eat the girl, I thought they might eat me. The second movie I saw the next year was Star Wars I was MUCH more mature then and could handle the action and violence. sigh. I'm so mature.(snicker).

Well, I think they call those annoying email scams that promise you money AFTER you send them money first -419s. But I'm not 100% sure that's what you're looking for.

I googled 419 and 4/19 and there are some other possibilities such as CHristian ministries based on Bible references - Gal. 4:19 and Matthew 4:19. I don't know the connection to the 5th of November, so I may not even have this question half way right.

I don't know if I should add a question since I'm unsure if I'm correct. I'll wait and see if Timber pops back on and grades my answer. ;)

righter1

I think 4/19 was the day of the Oklahoma City Bombing.

Nov. 5th (this year) is the day after election day. But, maybe it's TW's birthday... :p

actually that may be a correct referecnce (I think there is a "419," either a form or an error associated w/ electronic filing, related to the IRS), but that' why I put it in the date form 4/19.
(I believe it's also associated w/ drug use).

Agreed - I was watching some shows on the intenet, but stopped and started listening to podcasts of Christian teachers, don't miss it, don't really think of it - except Numbers on occassion.

When did I join - DEC 2007. Found CW when I did an internet search for Christian Writer associations and discussion forums. My local groups had gone on Chrismas break, and I just couldn't go that long. And now they are on summer break. Thanks Rebecca for CW!!!

Timber Wolf
08-13-2008, 07:17 PM
well, nobody's answered this, so....
I had to go to the school today to sign a piece of paper to get a cash advance from my workshop days from last week so I can get gas for the truck to go to the workshops over the next couple weeks (w/out the cash advance wouldn't get paid until the end of the mnth - no pay = no gas = no get to workshops)

how many letters in the longest English word? (for extra credit what does the word describe?)

Rachel E.
08-13-2008, 07:34 PM

Same question if I'm wrong.

The longest actual word in a major dictionary is 45 letters long.

Rachel E.
08-13-2008, 08:36 PM
ok, here goes...

http://www.englishenglish.com/english_facts_15.htm

The longest word in popular usage is ANTIDISESTABLISHMENTARIANISM (a movement opposed to the separation of church and state) at 28 letters.

The 45 letter word PNEUMONOULTRAMICROSCOPICSILICOVOLCANOCONIOSIS (a lung disease caused by breathing in certain particles) also appears in many English dictionaries. However, as it's use is strictly medical or scientific, some may not consider this truely part of the English language.

but here's what I was looking for:
Chemical name of the largest known protein - 189,819 letters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longest_word_in_English) - which is why I asked for the definition instead of the word.

I wondered if that was what you wanted TW, but since you said an English word, I figured not. Sorry!

Next question - What time frame of history is your favorite to research?

Hmmm... I don't do much history research, but the era I'm most fascinated by is probably WWII, followed closely by Revolutionary War/Founding era. Lately, the History Channel and the Military Channel and I've been making acquaintances... :p I don't know if I'd ever write a book that's set in history, but if I did, it'd probably be one of those two.

Okay, I will now really answer the question:
Favorite flower is the rose for its beauty, scent...

QUESTION: If you had an argument, would you later on apologise to the person even if you felt you were right, if the other party isn't willing to admit they are wrong?

Rachel E.
08-18-2008, 01:01 AM
I try to apologize to everyone if I get in a fight with them, and oftener than not, they think they are 100% right, so I was wrong anyway! lol. If you got in a fight with them, at all period, you are wrong, so that's a safe reason to apologize. But sometimes I fail at the apology, bad deal.

I'm currently looking forward to The Clone Wars & Quantum of Solstice. The Clone Wars got a decent review on Space.com this week, and I think I may like it better than the new trilogy set of Star Wars. Hopefully. As for Quantum of Solstice, it comes out the first weekend in November. I've been on a James Bond kick lately. Enough said.

And no, maybe it's sexist, but I kinda figured more women folk like to cook. But one of the ladies at out in-service days the last couple days said when she and her husband got married, neither one could cook. And they say that most of the world's great chiefs are men.

I like to bake and I like to experiment. Cooking every day just to eat gets boring after a while. (Especially since I just found out that I need to change my diet some after the baby comes--my chloresterol's high!) Baking is creative to me, even though I don't experiment too much with them, unless it's a new recipé. Baking bread, cakes, pies... love doing that. I usually end up making a lot of the desserts at Thanksgiving/Christmas. But, unfortunately, I don't have the energy to do a lot of baking right now. :(

I'm Ugandan, and in Uganda, it's either hot or cold, or something in between, or thereabout. We have 2 seasons all year long; rainy season (wet) and sunny season (dry). I guess we are now into the wet season.

So I cannot really say I am looking forward to the cooler seasons because we are already there, and I like it just as it is, though sometimes I feel I could use a lighter down pour.

I'd say 9 times out of 10, it should be the guy, but sometimes, guys drag their feet, so sometimes it needs to be the gal or nothing would ever happen! :p With my hubby and me, he proposed probably before I was really truly ready, but he'd tipped his hand a few weeks before that he was looking at engagement rings, so it gave me time to wrap my mind around it.

Jumping in randomly (hoping this thread has no bouncer).

My Grandad's house. Northern Michigan. Mostly for the history that's there. It's real; it's not a textbook. He flew over Burma in WW2 and has pictures. I love pictures. The Japanese tried to surrender the entire Western Department of their army to his plane crew. There were (I think) four of them. They declined.

What are you getting your mother/father/both for Christmas? If you don't have parents, then the nearest thing to it.

I haven't decided on my dad yet, but I think for my mom, I'm going to give her a new book by William J. Bennett, I think the title is: 'An American Patriot's Almanac'. I think she'd enjoy it. :)

Same question.

Dad is always hard, but usually a gift voucher. I hope to have good news to tell them at Christmas. I am going on a holiday, So i might get them something special from Tasmania. i'll know when i see it.

What is/was your favourite Christmas tradition?

I think it would have to be the early Christmas morning tradition in our family. Get up and make breakfast of Butterscotch Rolls, that are delicious. When the relatives arrive, eat breakfast and have a family devotions in which my dad reads the Christmas story out of Luke, and then my aunt reads a story about it written by Max Lucado that makes her cry every year. We even provide her a box of kleenex before hand, so she has something to clean up with.
Then we would start opening gifts... good times.

Well, time for a new question - did you get anything "writing oriented" for CHRISTmas?? (Like a membership / subscription, etc.)???

Nope, but didn't really expect/ask for anything like that with a new baby in the house.
