View Full Version : Interview the person below you ~ a game
Ransom v. Unman
03-20-2008, 08:41 PM
Since no one else answered his question (in accord with what we're supposed to be doing if someone ninjas an answer...)
What kind of computer are you using now?
A 2003 Sony Vaio that needs severe upgrades to its RAM and graphics card. :(
Did you ever roll an egg down a hill at Easter or is that just a British thing?
I think it's just a British thing.
...
Do you like your computer?
Timber Wolf
03-20-2008, 08:41 PM
nope - don't know if it is "just" a British thing, though.
I am eagerly awaiting a phone call, and it is 11 minutes late by clock.
So my question is:
What time is it where the person below me is?
Timber Wolf
03-20-2008, 08:43 PM
oh, and thanks Ransom
Timber Wolf
03-20-2008, 08:48 PM
oh, and now I see Ransom added his Q:
It's OK - I may not have spent as much as I did on it, if I had waited a bit longer - meaning I would simply have gottena cheaper one, not meaning I would have waited until the price went down.
my Q stands
Ransom v. Unman

So my question is:
What time is it where the person below me is?
It is 8:23 PM.
...
Lion, tiger, or bear? Why?
Xenia
03-20-2008, 09:55 PM
Oh my! (predictable but I still couldn't resist). Lion. I guess because of the "Lion, Witch and Wardrobe" (Jesus was the Lion)... and things like "the Lion of Judah" and the "Lion laying down with the Lamb". The Lion represents good to me..
What was the very last thing you bought?
Timber Wolf
03-20-2008, 09:58 PM
gal of milk
what meal are you eating or will be your next? and what are you having / will you have?

travelling over Easter weekend?
Tamera
03-21-2008, 10:15 AM
No, only to my mother's across town. But my husband is. He has to fly to Texas for work on Easter morning. He's even going to miss church. It's the first Easter we'll be apart.
What Easter tradition do you have that you really love?

What Easter tradition do you have that you really love?
My hubby and I haven't really established a 'tradition' yet... probably will happen once we start having these kids. :) But, for the second year in a row, I'm working Easter Morning services at church, then have to rush off to have dinner with my side of the family--about 30 minutes away, on the other side of the Kansas City metro... I kind of like this tradition, even if it means I have to get up early... being pregnant... and I'm not a morning person...

I think about the closest thing to a vacation I'm taking this Summer is going to the Cornerstone Festival (http://www.cornerstonefestival.org). The Prof should be there as well... (yes?)

What do you eat on Easter?
Well, it used to be eggs and chocolate, now it's whatever we get invited over for. My wife and I save most of our Resurrection remembrances and celebrations for the actual week Jesus was betrayed, killed, and raised, which happens to be the latter end of next month, this year.

What do you eat on Easter?
Because this is up to which side of the family we're with, I'm going to let someone else answer...

Are you afraid of heights?
Ransom v. Unman
03-21-2008, 05:26 PM
Are you afraid of heights?
"'I'm not going to ride on a magic carpet!' he hissed. 'I'm afraid of grounds!'
'You mean heights,' said Conina. 'And stop being silly.'
'I know what I mean! It's the grounds that kill you!'"
-Terry Pratcheet, Sourcery
Actually, I'm not terribly afraid of them. It all depends on how much of a slope I'm standing on, really...

Have you ever played a practical joke on someone, and if so, would care to share any details of it?
kluchar70
03-21-2008, 08:03 PM
Nothing major. At work, we would do things like put salt in each others coffee or wait until someone went into the back of the freezer and shut the door and turned off the light. Ah, good times, good times.

Okay, I'm going to answer two questions because the first one is fun.
Practical joke: I have stapled my husband's underwear shut, tied his socks together end to end, short-sheeted him, hidden his toothbrush, etc., etc. Haven't done anything in a while so this reminds me I need to think of something new! LOL!
Nope. Nobody cares.

What do you put in your child's/children's Easter baskets?
Tarin
03-22-2008, 04:53 PM
No children, hence no baskets. ;) Actually, I try to avoid all the "pagan" trappings of the holiday anyway. Not that I condemn those who do celebrate them (after all chocolate easter bunnies are the bomb! :p), but I like to keep the focus on the basics: more of Passover celebration than an Easter celebration.

I have to answer the candy question, since my favorites are out right now... Cadbury Creme eggs. :) But, if it's got dark chocolate and no peanut butter, I will eat it. :) Dark Chocolate Milky Way's are absolutely sinful...
Now, to Xenia's question...
I live in a house. Not terribly big, at least in the county I live, it's practically a shack! But, it's got space for my office and the baby room when it comes. :)

How many chapters in the Bible do you generally read per day?
Timber Wolf
03-24-2008, 01:22 PM
Generally is pretty, well, generic, but right now I try to read one chptr a day.
When I first started working on reading through the Bible the first time, I was trying for the requiste three, but I never seemed to make it. So now I just try to get some reading done.
Have you read through the Bible (forget the 'in a year')?
Tamera
03-24-2008, 01:39 PM
Yes, I have, a number of times. But most of the time, I concentrate on certain sections.
Do you have a prayer list?

How much time do you spend reading (not counting the Bible) every day?

How much time do you spend reading (not counting the Bible) every day?
Depends on the day... some days, it's only the time I'm in the 'library'. :p Others, I spend several hours reading (and sometimes all day if I'm not careful.) Today, for instance, I've been home and trying to keep my mind off medical problems, so I've spent about 3 hours reading. Yesterday, it was only about a 1/2 hour at church (I'd heard the sermon already while I was working), then a little tiny bit (20 minutes or less) winding down before bed. This is about average for me, I'd guess.

ROFL!!! Years ago, one of our cats disliked my husband. One day, he was cleaning out all his old ties and had left them in a pile on the floor for the time being, only to come back and find that the cat had peed on them!
We had another cat that loved to kill the mice and rabbits from the barn behind our house and would bring their heads as his trophies to show us! Yikes!

Next Question. Where all have you lived since a child. States, different countries, city- country, house- apartment.
When I was born, I lived in the hospital for a day or two... ;)
Seriously, lived in Wichita (2 different houses) until age 5, then we moved to the country about 30 miles from there. We lived on 1.5 acres for 10 years, then on just shy of 9 acres for another 4.5 years (both of these places were within 2 miles of each other.) There was a BIG hill on the property, a creek and a pond with an island, and lots of trees. After my parents split up, my Dad and sister and I moved to town, about 10 miles south of where we'd been, and lived in a house. Then, a year later, I got married and moved to the BIG CITY (Kansas City) where Hubby & I lived in an apartment for a bit more than a year, then bought our house, which we've been in for 4.5 years. I much prefer the country to the city. Right now, there's a yippy dog across the street that's been 'crying' for probably an hour.

What's the most deserted place you've ever been to (i.e., how far away were you from the nearest town/restaurant/gas station/person).
There's some place in Texas when you're going up I-35 from the Gulf Coast (or at least I think it's I-35) where there's a gas station, and then there's an official highway sign that says "Last gas station for 50 miles."

Of course.
Congrats to Ransom for getting the stars correct. Thank you Righter for you r kind complement about AK's flag (5 Timber Wolf points to you - not sure wha tyou can redeem them for)
OK, so who designed Alaska's flag, where did he live, when did he design it, what was the story behind his designing it?
:) I just remember reading the story of it's creation back in grammar school... I don't remember the kid's name, but I know he wasn't very old--maybe early teens--possibly younger? He designed it--I think--in 1959 when Alaska became a state. And, if my memory serves me, when Alaska became a state, they had a contest for all the school children to design the flag. He submitted his drawing and it was chosen as the winner.
Now, it's been a while since I've SEEN the flag, but it has a constellation--the Big Dipper--on it, methinks? I just remember the beautiful story behind the designing of it more than the actual image being emblazoned on my brain.
There seems to be a few other questions floating around right now; I'll let those stand instead of adding to the confusion.

both my cats are declawed, and one of them is petrified of the outdoors. The other will sneak out if we're not paying attention. She gets to go out for a monitored visit out of doors when it's nice outside, usually for a few minutes, otherwise she'll try to make a break for it. :p

I like intelligent humor, quick, dry humor too. I love the old vaudevillian types--George Burns, Jack Benny, Abbott & Costello and the Mark Brothers. So much better than most of todays humorists...
I like a bit of slapstick, but it has to be tastefully done.

ding, Ding, DING!
Benny Beson designed the flag as part of a contest. It conatains the Big Dipper pointing to the North Star. He lived in Seward at the AK Children's home (where, BTW, my mom worked, she told me about the kids trying to steal Vanilla from the kitchen to try to get drunk off of it). He created the desing at age 13, (well before statehood though) in 1927.

I'm glad you answered that 'cause I would have said somebody from Mork & Mindy, but then I'm a bit young and don't have cable to know the older shows very well!
Ministries... I'm in the Worship Arts department at my church. This quarter, I've worked every other weekend in the light booth for 3 services. I've been doing this for around 4 years (I think--it's hard to remember) and really, really enjoy it. I've been around longer than our worship pastor and the technical director! :)

Ohio has rolling hills, Ky and wv have tall mountains and out there where you are Timber is Huge mountains. Trust me I've been across Fancy Gap, Cabbage, and Truckee. I know our Mountains are not as big as yours. LOL
I have many animals in my stories.
Teabag is cat in my story. I have my little critters thinking, all the time. I have a pack of wolves also that hangs out with Teabag. I love to wonder what the animals think all the time. So often I have them looking at my MC and others giving their opinion on various things.
Where is Fancy Gap? Cabbage Or Truckee? Anyone know and if you know their elevation you get a gold star. LOL!!

What is the most awesome experience that you have ever had in God, besides your conversion experience?
shannonmamabear
03-28-2008, 11:37 PM
Ouch,
There are so many but I'll be honest and share the one that sprang to mind when I read your question.
At thirteen I visited a friends church, was overwhelmed by the presence of God and walked the isle. (Be patient, I know no conversion stories, I'm getting to it...) At home my Dad told me It didn't count as going to church because it wasn't our denomination.
For years I walked a painful, sinful existence not knowing who I was-A child of the King. But in my heart I know I was saved.
Well a couple of years later, I was 16, had lied to my dad about where I was going, I was high and pregnant. I was walking down the street telling a loud cuss ridden story. I don't think I could have been much more steeped in sin at that particular moment, and then it happened.
A stranger, a woman, broke thru the crowd and approached me.
She said, "God wants you to know He loves you, and He knows what you are going thru. He has a plan for you. He loves you." And then she was gone.
My Real Father didn't wait till I was actin right to tell me He loved me, He told me when I couldn't have been more unlovely.
Wow, sorry that was so long...
Anyways, do you live where you grew up?

This is one:
A scene from several years ago when I was in a time of struggling in my relationship with the Lord.
I am angry and hurt after a fight with hubby. I’m in my car driving to work and I’m ranting out loud.… “he doesn’t really love me! If he really loved me he wouldn’t treat me the way he does, he wouldn’t act the way he does. There is no way that he can love me and behave the way he does… no way!” I was so upset and totally inside my own head and emotions when right in the middle of this pity party here comes a still quiet voice saying… “yes, I know. I know just how you feel”. I thought I would have to pull the car over. It was such a heartbreak to me to suddenly have the words I was saying about the proof of love be handed back to me by the Holy Spirit… that He knew how I felt because this was how I was treating Him! I will never forget it and even now it makes me cry…
(oh, and me and hubby are fine - just a dumb argument - you know...)

What did you eat for supper?
Hubby and I went to Chili's and I had about half of my chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli (the rest is lunch today!) I had what the called an Arnold Palmer with a splash of strawberry (basically 1/2 iced tea, 1/2 strawberry lemonade.)
What time do you get up? On week days (or work days) and week ends?
It's dependent on my schedule for the most part on weekends (and whether I can stay asleep.) Typically on weekends I get up somewhere between 8 and 9:30. On work days (M-F), I'm usually starting to prowl by 7. My alarm goes off much earlier. I'm going to have to get used to hubby not being around, though... :(
Do you budget your money. Or just buy anything? Impulse buyer or do your hoard your money?
I budget as much as I possibly can... but it doesn't mean I always stick to it 100% where things like gas and groceries are concerned. Right now is transition time: hubby's new job, being out of town, etc., so I know my budget is going to get a lot more flexible until we get a new pattern set down.
But, I also usually have a bit of 'whatever' money in the weekly spread... If I want to go to Borders or he needs parts for the cars, it's there, but I tell him how much he's allowed!
Do you have a tattoo?
Nope, can't stand needles.

I can't remember if I answered it or not and I'm too lazy to go back and look, but the one about what church you go to.
Westside Family Church (http://www.westsidefamilychurch.com/) in Lenexa, Kansas. It's loosely affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and we have three campuses (or campi, depending on which pastor is speaking.) My husband and I've been members there for about 4 years, been going about 5. We've got about 4500 members or so (I think). Regular attendance is that level or higher. Not sure exactly.

Well, a lot of what I remember I've never been sure of what was told to me later, and what I actually recollect. I do remember my GM yelling down into the well that my GP and Uncle were in, working on the water pump, to get out. I remember my mom had some bubble bath balls, and the container fell off the shelf and broke and the balls were rolling all over the floor. I don't remember being scared - don't know if I was smart enough to be scared - or just thought it was a fun roller-coaster ride.
Best Job - hmmmm. Unpaid - being an uncle. Paid - probably lab aide / tutor / and I'll even include teaching, even though I hated the politics - loved being with most of the students.

No, I don't cry easily... I hardly ever cry.
Do you have a low pain tolerance?

It's really kind of hard to know if you have a low pain tolerance. How can one know the pain of others? Still, I have been told that I have a pretty high tolerance... (I am a big cry baby but not over physical pain... but if I see someone else crying... I don't even have to know what they are crying about and it gets me!)
What is (or would be) a perfect day for you?

What is (or would be) a perfect day for you?
A day where hubby and I are together and enjoying each other's company and not fighting (if we're driving and one of us thinks we know how to get there better than the other, we argue.) At the end of the day, being able to relax or write on the back patio (without mosquitoes) and a glass of lemonade and/or tea... Right now, that sounds about perfect. ('Course I'm missing my hubby something awful right now...)
